Threat made to African-American museum in Philadelphia

Updated 4:59 pm, Thursday, July 14, 2016

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities are investigating a threatening letter sent to the African American Museum in Philadelphia.

Police said the letter was sent anonymously and threatened violence to the museum during the Democratic National Convention, which begins July 25.

The museum is located in what's known as America's most historic square mile. The neighborhood is also home to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell.

Police declined to comment on the letter's details and whether any threat had been deemed credible. Officers met with museum personnel Thursday and are investigating.

Just checked and the local media is calling it a "bomb threat" -

Police Thursday were investigating a threat to bomb the African American Museum in Philadelphia during the Democratic National Convention later this month.

The museum, located at 7th and Arch Streets in Center City, received a letter Thursday and reported the incident to police.

Chief Inspector Joseph Sullivan, who oversees homeland security for the city police departments, said his detectives were investigating.

Museum officials could not be reached for comment.

But what they don't tell you is that it is across the street from a federal prison

AND the Philadelphia Federal Reserve -

Plus it is a block from the Round House (Philadelphia Police HQ) -

and a block from a large federal building and federal courthouse (3rd Circuit) where the FBI, etc., are located -

So the police saturation is pretty thick in that area at all times (however the horse and carriage tours clog up traffic there too! )
