President Obama calls Supreme Court healthcare decision a victory

Source: Reuters

President Barack Obama said on Thursday that the Supreme Court's decision to uphold his landmark healthcare reform law was a victory for the American people, and he promised to implement it and improve upon it going forward.

The highest court in the land has now spoken. We will continue to implement this law and we'll work together to improve on it where we can, Obama said at the White House.

What we won't do - what the country can't afford to do - is re-fight the political battles of two years ago or go back to the way things were. With today's announcement, it's time for us to move forward.

(snip)
"It should be pretty clear by now that I didn't do this because it was good politics. I did it because I believed it was good for the country. I did it because I believed it was good for the American people."

Victory for US to..for AMERICANS and something we NEED. Any Victory in a war is a good thing. Many Americans WIN because of this. We have more than what we started with and we've WON something. And the war for healthcare continues...It is a war too, so I call it that.

That racist cracker has been campaigning heavily against the Obama ACA since the day it was first brought up.

Shout it from the roof tops.
Ring those bells.

I think I missed something important here. My understanding is that the ACA requires everyone to purchase health insurance. My understanding is also that there is no public option. So, do not these two points combine to mean that we are now simply being required to further enrich the coffers of already obscenely wealthy private sector insurance providers? What if you're one of the millions of people working for employers like MalWart earning less in a month than the $2,000/month Allstate wants to charge you for premiums? Do you go to jail because you can't afford to buy another yacht for an Aetna executive?

No one will have to pay for premiums because they'll be paid for by the taxpayers, just like they are in Socialist countries. In other words the cost is paid through our taxes just like public schools, roads, firefighters and police services are. So people who can't work or don't have jobs will still be able to get healthcare.

Once the government is the entity holding the money and paying the premiums it will start to regulate how much it will pay. And there are added benefits that are already considered Constitutional by this Supreme Court. Health insurance companies will never be able to turn someone down by saying they have a pre-existing condition, nor will they be able to turn anyone away.

Do you realize how many people that would have been hurt by this if the decision would have gone the other way? Thank God for this decision.

Now, can we please get information out there because there are people on this site that are asking the same questions the American people are asking. The public needs to be educated before the Republicans begin anew to lie and they have already started a massive lie campaign again.

We didn't fight it enough the last time so, we need to fight it this time!
