(36,745 posts)They pretty much ignore them.
Their position on Phelps and his MJ was it was not their concern or jurisdiction.

(741 posts)He lied about the enhancement drugs which was disappointing, but the UCI did not strip Bjarne Riis, Jan Ullrich, Marco Pantani of their wins even though they were all known dopers after the fact. Same as Lance.
Greg Lemond first raised the doping issue in the 1980's and the UCI did nothing except make him a pariah. Miguel Indurain won 5 straight tours. I find that curious.
Anyway, everyone was doping during Lances tenure, he just did it the best.

(20,192 posts)That doesn't dismiss that he lied about over and over for SOOOO long, but I always thought he got targeted because he started competing in big Triathlons. I think everyone knew biking was dirty.

(4,787 posts)He'd scored an upset victory over Phelps in the event in 2012 by a thin margin; Phelps was determined to reclaim the title.
Before an earlier match, Le Clos(24) was shadow-boxing and dancing around directly in front of Phelps in the ready room, where the swimmers about to race don't usually interact with each other as they mentally prepare themselves. That's when the photo was taken. Le Clos' father got into the act as well, announcing that there was no way that he wouldn't win.
After the race, the commentators remarked that giving Phelps even more incentive to push himself had perhaps been an ill-conceived idea.

(163 posts)I've heard of him, but until tonight I had no opinion. Frankly, I was disgusted by his obvious ego-driven actions/hand signals asking the crowd to adore him. Ugg...

(20,192 posts)swimmers, I don't see anything wrong with enjoying his moment. I'm sure this is his last Olympics. He gets some endorsements (Speedo) and the occassional commentator gig but swimmers have to move on to other careers. Mark Spitz became a dentist.
