Giuliani Blames ‘Corrupt’ Media For Reports On Trump’s 2nd Amendment Line

Source: Talking Points Memo

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani on Tuesday blamed the media for misinterpreting Donald Trump’s incendiary remarks about the ability of “Second Amendment people” to take action against Hillary Clinton.

"What he said very clearly was that if Hillary Clinton were elected president, she would get to appoint judges to the Supreme Court, and among the other things that they would do to destroy us, would be to do away with the Second Amendment and your right to bear arms," Giuliani said while introducing Trump at a rally in Wilmington, North Carolina. "Now, is there anybody here that doubts that?" he asked the audience.

"And then he said, 'And you have the power to do something about it,'” Giuliani went on. “And what he meant by that was you have the power to vote against her. You have the power to campaign against her. You have the power to speak against her. You know why, because you're Americans."

This line of defense, which others in the Trump camp have offered up, ignores the fact that the Republican nominee was explicitly talking about what would happen after Clinton won the election. Earlier Tuesday at the University of North Carolina, Trump said that if Clinton were able to select liberal Supreme Court justices as president, there would be nothing Americans could do to prevent her from taking away their right to own firearms.

He called on gun culture to assassinate his opponent and the judges she appoints.

There is no other way to interpret what Trump said.

Then there's no room for misinterpretation.

You can start by looking at Hillary Clinton and what she has to say. I know, it's a high mark to live up to.

"Now, is there anybody here that doubts that?" he asked the audience.

No Trump was calling for the future assassination of a then President Clinton in order to stop to stop her from
picking out people to be on the US Supreme Court and on the day that she is shot things would be horrible.

Direct quote
"Hillary wants to abolish -- essentially abolish the Second Amendment. By the way, if she gets to pick, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know."

"But what I tell you is that will be a horrible day."

For being such a tough guy, he sure doesn't have much faith. Hillary, just like President Obama, is going to take away everyone's guns.

He's a vile individual.

... if Clinton gets elected, maybe someone with a gun can prevent her from nominating SC judges. Apparently Giuliani is too stupid to realize that his own comments will only lead to more "corrupt media" replaying of what Trump "clearly" said.

14. On his show, The Celebrity Apprentice, there were competitions between two teams

during some seasons on which a team leader would sometimes plan to fail a competition for ulterior motives (as in, "throwing a competition&quot . Frequently, that motive was so that later during the Board Room showdown, the team leader of the failed team could work to eject an unpleasant rival on his/her team.

Other times, a contestant would offer themselves up to being fired. This, to Trump's mind, was ALWAYS a cardinal sin. Someone who is competing for something can NEVER EVER quit.

And I think the psychology of that is enlightening here, in that I think Trump is doing everything he can in order to lose to Hillary, even while attempting to disguise the fact that he doesn't want to win.

Oh, what a tangled web we weave, as the expression goes.

We all saw what Trump said with our very own eyes.
The media did not twist, distort, edit, or manipulate in any way.
They just turned on the camera and your boy Trump did the rest.

he is talking about a period AFTER the election, when Hillary is appointing justices and how there's "nothing to be done" then except.... the second amendment people". He is clearly NOT talking about voting or elections.

CONSIDER OTHER CONTEXT: Trump ramblings at rallies frequently include comments about wanting to "punch in the face" protesters & "hit" various assorted others. His close advisers openly state things like Hillary needs to be shot for treason.

It's all about context - this supposed "joke" is exactly like crying fire in a crowded theater. You can cry fire all you want in different situations, but not in a crowded theater. Thought that was pretty commonly understood.
