New Jersey cat killer raises concerns in Delaware
Source: delawareonline
A convicted New Jersey cat killer has since moved to Dover, where he adopted at least five cats off Craigslist, according to the animals' former owners and an animal cruelty investigator familiar with the case.
Now, the cats are nowhere to be found, and animal advocates want answers from the state Office of Animal Welfare about 58-year-old Anthony Appolonia.
In neighboring New Jersey, Appolonia received the maximum punishment of five years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of animal cruelty in 2008. He admitted to investigators that he had tortured and killed 19 kittens and cats, which he had obtained through newspaper ads. In graphic detail, he described how he stomped on them, broke their bones and slammed them against walls before drowning them.
Following his release, Appolonia began renting a townhome near Dover Air Force Base. Beginning last summer, he responded to Craigslist ads for free cats and kittens in Delaware using either his real name or aliases, according to statements from six residents who say they gave him felines.

(7,822 posts)Needs to be locked up for a very, very long time. Or committed indefinitely. They are a danger to society and perfectly capable of doing the same to humans. Take this kind of crime seriously. Far, far more of a threat than someone caught with a joint who can find their lives ruined.

What an ugly, vicious, filthy, disgusting, evil way to spend his life. His mother must be so proud. [/center]

(5,611 posts)One of the hallmark signs of a budding serial killer is the torturing of animals. This guy is fucking dangerous -- we can probably guarantee that he murders a human being before long, and I wouldn't doubt that the cats are stand-ins until he works up the "courage" to assault children. I really wish the laws were tougher on this sort of thing as these creeps are absolute plagues on society. And they never stop -- and they frequently escalate (as the FBI puts it) to people. His mug shot is fucking terrifying.

(290 posts)One of them I found abandoned as a kitten. Ten years on, he's the most affectionate animal I've ever known. He follows me around like a dog would and cries if he's separated from me. It chills my blood to think that some humans (I refuse to refer to this pond scum as "people" torture defenseless animals for some twisted reason.
If I were to clap eyes on this wretch, I'd have to resist a very powerful urge to curbstomp him. He needs to be either imprisoned or institutionalized, or else people in his community will find that children start disappearing. He'll work his way up there eventually.
