Hillary Clinton should apologize to her Republican rival for saying that Islamic State terrorists are praying for a Donald Trump presidency, House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) said during a Thursday morning radio interview.

Asked if Clinton should apologize to Trump for suggesting that terrorists are "rooting" for his campaign, Ryan said she should. "Sure, I do. But she won’t," he told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt. "I mean, look, they’re going to call each other these kinds of names. It’s just, I don’t know, I don’t see why she thinks this is good for her, but I think it just shows, you know, you can just sort of see a person at the end of the day, what they’re like."

Ryan was responding to a question about Clinton's remarks in an interview broadcast Thursday on Israeli TV, where she cited a recent Time magazine article by former National Counterterrorism Center chief Matt Olson where he argues that members of ISIL are actively advocating for Trump.

“I found it even surprising how clear and compelling the case was where he quoted ISIS spokespeople rooting for Donald Trump’s victory because Trump has made Islam and Muslims a part of his campaign and basically, Matt Olson argues, the jihadists see this as a great gift," Clinton told Channel 2.
