Jill Stein: Trump may have 'memory problem'
The physician turned Green Party candidate sees signs of health, mental, cognitive issues in the man atop the GOP ticket.

Jill Stein is a Harvard-trained internist, a doctor who diagnosed thousands of patients for a quarter-century in Boston and Chicago before making the late-career switch to Green Party presidential candidate and could-be Hillary Clinton spoiler. ... So, as we settled in for our Off Message podcast interview last week in a drab hotel conference room in Baltimore (she had a rally there last Friday), I asked Stein -- as a clinician used to making snap assessment -- whether she agreed with that Donald Trump will be the healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency, as declared by his Bruce Vilanch-esque personal physician, Harold Bornstein.
You know, I don't pretend to be able to do TV diagnosis, but I think the guy has a problem, said the 66-year-old candidate, who is averaging somewhere between 2 and 5 percent in most national and state polls, enough (Clinton people say) to put a scare into the Democrat in too-close-to-call states. The guy has a lot of problems -- physical, mental, emotional, cognitive, Stein said of Trump. ... As proof of his (alleged) pathology, she pointed to his position-hopping on a range of issues, which she cast as erratic rather than calculating -- from his fuzzy Iraq positions over the years, to his brief softening on immigration last month, to his decision (on the day we spoke) to suddenly renounce birtherism after five years of banging a drumbeat of lies.
It's hard to, you know, to think too hard about anything Donald Trump says because he will change his mind in the next hour, if not the next day, or whatever, she added. Today, suddenly, after five years, he became convinced that it's not an issue. Yesterday it was an issue. It will probably become an issue again for him. You know, the guy may have a memory problem. Who knows what it is? But he's incapable of having a consistent thought or policy.
Stein also thinks hes getting a free pass because he spent his career in private business, and wants Trump along with everybody else to release his tax returns. At least with Clinton, you know, there was some degree of transparency, she said. But what's going on with Trump, you can't even get at and what he said was that even to clarify 15 out of these 500 deals, these are just like the most frightening mafiosos around the world. He's like -- he's a magnet for crime and extortion.

I hear that a lot of people are saying this. Smart people, the brightest people. Lots of them. A cognitive disorder, which, possibly, a growing number of people think Trump has, is disqualifying, don't you think? I myself have no way of knowing whether this is true or not, but it is on the internet. It's certainly worth looking into.

(58,785 posts)One prominent expert said he is a textbook case. It does affect cognition, but whether he is malignant enough to qualify as a psychopath (newer term) I haven't read. The search terms are "cluster B" personality traits. And narcissism.
My half sister, who is a psychologist, says she and her colleagues at work have been watching the race in horrified fascination, but they are also clearly enjoying tagging all the obvious signs of his disorder. I once asked if they thought he would meet criteria for psychopathy, but she didn't answer. Doesn't mean he does, though.
The whole thing's a touchy subject and she's not all that forthcoming. She's very conservative, soaked in all the lies about Hillary long ago; but now that the race is tightening she's afraid she may be forced to vote for her against Trump to make sure he doesn't get in office. A choice between a lesser and great evil. Not happy, but imo she deserves it, not that I actually say that to her.

She mostly specializes in depression and anxiety, which she likes because she really can help. Some with personality disorders are deeply depressed because they keep getting fired and destroying relationships, but mostly she doesn't like dealing with them because their underlying disorders have apparently been effectively untreatable, sounds like mostly counseling family on understanding and dealing with their manipulations, setting boundaries, etc.

(95,337 posts)Because clearly they forgot that Bernie is endorsing Hillary and knows how important it is to keep Trump out of the White House.

(95,337 posts)It's those that are supporting Stein now saying they see no difference between Trump and Clinton AND ignore what Bernie wants his supporters to do.

(783 posts)Someone the other day was whining about Obama trying to get the TPP through in lame duck, after Hillary has already abandoned the pro-TPP stance specifically as part of an understanding with Bernie.
The person whining had "Women for Bernie" in large colorful text in her tag line.
It OUGHT to be true that we're all behind Hillary now, but the fact is that there are some stragglers on that.

(95,337 posts)They exist and to put our heads in the sand and say they don't is just foolish. Obviously someone else would like to ignore the problem. (read the other reply to my post).

(95,337 posts)There are former 'Bernie' supporters out there that are gung-ho for Stein. Trust me I've stop following about a dozen of them on facebook. This whole article is about one. They exist. And my point is valid. Anyone who listens to what Bernie has said countless times owner couldn't be a supporter of Jill Stein unless they weren't really a Bernie fan either.
If you choose to ignore this issue then you are the fool. It could mean the difference between a Hillary White House and a Trump one.

(59,503 posts)One of them has for years spoken of primarying Bernie (or Leahy) from the left. He is 100% sincere as a supporter of Stein eagerly and excitedly speaking of trying to get groups to watch the small number of tv appearances she has had. He seemed surprised and sad that no one was interested in the left leaning discussion group we were in.

(783 posts)Murielm99, as with all these types of things, there's a question of magnitude. Sure we all forget things sometimes. But there are medical disorders that cause extreme forgetfulness -- such as Alzheimer's, which is hereditary and which afflicted Trump's daddy Fred.
Whether Trump is "crazy like a fox" or outright nuts or just sick I have no way of knowing. But there has been a lot of speculation on the web about the possibility of Trump having Alzheimer's. Google it if you're curious.
To me it sounds plausible partly because Alzheimer's is hereditary but largely because Trump was so hot to fabricate doubts about Hillary's health. Often when people level accusations at others, they are projecting. Cheating spouses suspect and accuse their faithful mates of cheating. Liars accuse others of lying. Elevator farters are the first to accuse someone else of the offense. The fact that Trump picked imaginary ill health out of the large basket of possible attacks he could make on Hillary indicates that ill health was something that was on his mind. So that lends credence to the hypothesis that something is wrong with Trump's health. Could be Alzheimer's (Some people are saying Alzheimer's; I don't know; You tell me; etc.)
