Bono: Trump Is ‘Potentially the Worst Idea That Ever Happened to America’
Source: Mediaite
Bono sat down with Charlie Rose and, like pretty much every celebrity who does an interview these days, was asked about Donald Trump.
America is like the best idea the world ever came up with, he said, but Donald Trump is potentially the worst idea that ever happened to America. Potentially.
Bono spoke of how America isnt just a country, its an idea with strong beliefs in liberty and justice.
He lamented how Trump has hijacked the party and wants to hijack the idea of America.

(9,118 posts)He intends to do more to prevent Trump becoming leader of the free world and turning America into a "casino".
And he had glowing words about Hillary's effort with the One campaign. We need to repeat what he said in this interview as he is bipartisan and comes to this decision carefully.
Best of all he chastised Rose for bringing up the HRC "trust" meme. It was a great moment. He backed it up.
Try to post that segment about 25 minutes in on the charlie rose show.

(4,973 posts)will start demeaning him at every angle, like usual. Right talk radio hosts are the ugliest, least appealing people on this planet, yet they get away with making fun of others. Now that's irony.

(182,802 posts)The irony is that U2 at its core is really a Christian Rock band. They called themselves as such until Adam Clayton told them early on - tone down the Christian stuff or I'm leaving.

(58,785 posts)after all, and many, many are far smellier than ours.
Also, ignoring our all good people and our very real national stability to overstate the effects of the stinky underbellies, such as imagining we are as "divided" as we've ever been since the Civil War (how ridiculous!), would actually work to make things worse.
Maintaining perspective is a good thing.

I'd apply the word 'relevance' in that context to you as well.

(15,220 posts)I'm glad he's speaking out against Trump. Bono has some real substance. He's not just your typical celebrity with name recognition. He has the acts that substantiate his involvement in world causes. Leaders listen to him, as well they should.
Glad he's on our side!

I'm still trying to find the exact statement that set Charlie Rose on his heels regarding "trust" during the interview.

(52 posts)But I disagree with Bono on Trump being America's worst idea, although he is certainly one of the worst. Slavery and the extermination of the indigenous Americans were far worse overall. That said, Trump being President would certainly bring disastrous consequences for both this country and the world.
