My husband's family is from, and in, those mountians. My children will inherit that as their family's home. The land is phenomenally beautiful and really the people are too, in spite of some big things I'd like to see overcome. But people can overcome those kind of problems. You can't put back mountains and streams and those whose health has been broken.

The GOP + 5 DINOs have overturned too many of her vetoes.

This bill is trickier because it crosses party lines in strange ways, though mostly by GOP.

Racial Justice (revision) veto overridden today.

Lots of back room stuff going on, particularly on budget. GOP has a big new tax break for businesses that is far larger some GOP would believe and would not amend bill to narrow its scope as DEMs attempted. As I recall, that tax cut is over $500 million, more than the extra Perdue requested for education, etc.

It's hardball time.

I can't believe that there isn't a procedure in place to prevent an accidental veto over-ride.

and to make the accidental vote worse, another democrat who had just won an environmental award, and sent a letter to the Governor requesting that she veto this bill, changed her mind and voted to override the veto as well...

I sure hope that the local governments get on board and ban fracking in their jurisdictions, so that we don't have this kind of thing going on in our beautiful state
