Obama approval hits new high

Source: CNN

President Barack Obama's approval rating stands at 55% in a new CNN/ORC poll, the highest mark of his second term, and matching his best at any time since his first year in office.

The new rating outpaces his previous second-term high -- reached just after a Democratic convention that extolled the successes of his presidency -- by one point, and hits a level he's reached just twice since the end of his first year in office: In January 2013 just before his second inauguration and in January 2011.

The new poll continues a streak in which Obama's approval rating has been at 50% or higher in CNN/ORC polls since February, a seven month run that is his longest since 2009. And taken together, Obama's approval ratings in 2016 average 51% so far in CNN/ORC polls, his best mark since that first year in office.

A year ago at this time, Obama's approval rating was about 10 points lower than it is today. The improvement in his numbers has come across age groups and gender lines, and from all geographic regions.

Obama could easily win a third term. And these approval ratings are a big FU to the racist republicans in the Congress and Senate.

Long time no see

I'm sure President Obama would have easily won a third term if it was allowed. I will miss him, the First Lady and the girls, very much.

They were a great, honorable and wonderful presence in the White House. All the garbage the republican threw against them was in vain.

Right, a long time.. took a vacation. How the heck are ya?

I know.. gonna miss them so much! Like FL Michelle says.. it's sad because every event is the last one.. like the last harvest of her White House Garden..

Sweet: Michelle Obama locks in her White House kitchen garden

WASHINGTON — First lady Michelle Obama’s signature White House project is her kitchen garden, and on Wednesday, she unveiled her plan for it to live on, making it harder for a President Trump or any other president to replace it with sod.

With not much time left in the White House, a sentimental Obama presided over what amounted to a sendoff ceremony for her legacy garden, newly tethered to the South Lawn with much more than plants.

To insulate the garden from future Capitol Hill budget-cutters, Obama lined up a $2.5 million donation from the Burpee Foundation and the W. Atlee Burpee Company to the National Park Foundation. The seed company contribution will help pay for the National Park Service garden upkeep.

The final Obama harvest is on Thursday, with schoolchildren helping pick the veggies, an assortment that includes tomatoes, peppers, beans, lettuce and carrots.

On Wednesday, Obama hosted a formal dedication for her upgraded garden. “It’s kind of an emotional moment,” she said.

“We’re having a lot of these emotional moments because everything is the last. But this is particularly my baby because this garden is where it all started. So we’re really coming full circle back to the very beginning,” Obama said.

They are wonderful folks, we were lucky to have them.

Michelle Obama sets her garden in stone

The first lady makes it harder for a future president to scrap her South Lawn legacy.

10. Mike Pence in the debate kept tying Clinton to Obama

Oct 2016

I thought that was stupid on his part since it tied Clinton to someone who is popular. Pence talked like it was republican primary.

But a big part of Clinton's strategy to win is to get the Obama coalition to turn out for her like they did for Obama.

It's like rubio in the republican primary saying "Obama knows exactly what he is doing". While it was meant as an attack on Obama it was too complicated for the republican primary voters.

Pence tying Hillary to popular President Obama is proof of that.

Pence is an idiot, working for a con man, in a party of racist haters.

tying Hillary to Obama is only to negatively re-enforce their screwy base, who already hate Hillary and need no re-enforcement. They gain nothing, and probably lose some moderate republicans.

... and nobody but them and their sick lapdogs on the right believe their lies.

In a sane world, his approval rating would be at 75-80% or higher, but we know that 40% of the country remains mindlessly Republican no matter what.

That saying, "Everything is relative" comes home to roost with Trump leading the Republican clown show.
