Trump on alleged election interference by Russia: Get on with our lives

Source: MSN/Washington Post

President-elect Donald Trump distanced himself Wednesday night from the Obama administration’s plans to punish Russia for its alleged interference in the 2016 presidential election, telling reporters “I think we ought to get on with our lives.”

Trump, appearing at his Mar-A-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Fla., was asked what he thought about the Obama administration’s plans to sanction Russia for what U.S. intelligence officials say was state-sanctioned hacking of Democratic organizations, targeting of state election systems and meddling in the U.S. presidential election.

"I think we ought to get on with our lives,” Trump said in response. “I think that computers have complicated lives very greatly. The whole age of computer has made it where nobody knows exactly what’s going on. We have speed, we have a lot of other things, but I'm not sure we have the kind the security we need.”

Asked in particular about comments Wednesday by Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.) that sanctions should hit Russian leader Vladimir Putin “as an individual,” Trump demurred.

where was this " I think we ought to get on with our lives" stuff when they pounded away at Hillary about the e-mails endlessly and even had the demented chants of "lock her up" ?!?

More and more hypocrisy.

81 FR 94963

Russian Sanctions: Addition of Certain Entities to the Entity List, and Clarification of License Review Policy

This final rule amends the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) by adding twenty-three entities to the Entity List. The twenty-three entities who are added to the Entity List have been determined by the U.S. Government to be acting contrary to the national security or foreign policy interests of the United States. BIS is taking this action to ensure the efficacy of existing sanctions on the Russian Federation (Russia) for violating international law and fueling the conflict in eastern Ukraine. These entities will be listed on the Entity List under the destinations of Russia and the Crimea region of Ukraine.

In addition to the Entity List changes described above, this final rule revises the licensing policy in three sections of the Commerce Control List (CCL)-based controls in the EAR to clarify that BIS’s review of license applications for exports, reexports and transfers (in-country) to Russia will take into account and protect U.S. national security interests.

Obviously the notion of computers having "complicated lives very greatly".....yeah.

But also the whole notion that we need to immediately move on from a major nuclear power having hacked our emails in order to manipulate public opinion about our election, how the hell are we supposed to let that go?

And this coming from someone who obsessed for months about his opponent's own email that was never hacked?

I'm speechless.

His dangerous ignorance - his interference with Obama's presidency - his shameless lies - his dismissal of US intelligence agencies - his dismissal of facts - and, above all, his bizarre propensity to give Putin a free pass every single time.

Where are those tax returns, anyway, and what is in them that might explain his defense of Putin and Putin's policies?

I am terrified for my country.

for some weird reason Russian had hacked the election so Hillary won the Electoral college? What would RUMP and the GOP be saying about that? I'm so sure they'd just go "Oh well, let's move on."

And your head will indeed explode: “I think that computers have complicated lives very greatly." I am so embarrassed for our country.

Except for Twitter, I'm sure he hates the technology that has recorded every moronic thing he has said or done for posterity.
