Trump writing own 'short' inaugural speech
Source: CNN
West Palm Beach, Florida (CNN)President-elect Donald Trump is turning his attention Thursday to crafting a "short" but impactful inaugural address designed not to overly burden the thousands of supporters expected to attend next month's ceremony.
"He wants to write the inaugural himself," said presidential historian Douglas Brinkley, who met with Trump Wednesday to discuss, among other things, the upcoming speech on January 20th.
Trump was expected to spend at least part of his day Thursday at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida, working on the speech, according to officials.
"He doesn't want it to be long," Brinkley said on CNN. "He would like it to be a shorter one. He doesn't want people standing out in the cold."

(2,747 posts)Your post reminded me of this:
This is the opening sentence of a LTTE written about 1862 by the man who would rename himself Mark Twain. He was parodying a long winded politician of the time. IIRC, the letter ran on then stopped with an "editor's" note that the remainder of the speech couldn't be printed because they had run out of "I"s.
I can't find a link to the whole thing but did find the line in the post title quoted in A Brilliant Streak: The Making of Mark Twain.

(46,122 posts)Donald Trump and his top advisers have begun mapping out the themes for his inaugural address next month, as the president-elect has tapped Stephen Miller, his incoming senior White House adviser for policy, to write the historic speech.
Early discussions of the address have focused on laying out some of the structural problems facing the country, and then framing Trumps first-term agenda in more nationalistic than ideological terms. Among the half-dozen areas that Trump is considering issuing a collective call to arms to address are the nations education system, infrastructure, border security, the state of the military and the economy, in particular, the outsourcing of jobs.
The choice of Miller, the 31-year-old who wrote most of Trumps major prepared speeches in 2016, including his Republican National Convention address, which was criticized as overly dark, is no surprise to Trump insiders. Miller played an unusually multifaceted role on the campaign: a behind-the-scenes policy adviser, Trumps chief speechwriter and a speech-giver himself, becoming a skinny-tie-wearing fixture over the summer at Trump rallies as a warm-up act.
Steves a machine, Jason Miller, a Trump aide, said of Millers prolific writing abilities (the two men aren't related). Ive literally seen him knock out three speeches in a day.

(Also, as many people have mentioned, lack of attention may drive him even crazier than criticism. On that front, I have high hopes for that rumored "counter-inauguration" concert (live and broadcast on youtube), which will feature a boatload of A-list celebrities to deflect attention from the inauguration.)
Karma. Couldn't happen to a more deserving guy.
