Former CIA director James Woolsey has split with Trump, 'effective immediately'

Source: Business Insider

Former CIA director James Woolsey will no longer serve as a senior adviser to President-elect Donald Trump, Woolsey's spokesman said in a statement provided to reporters on Thursday.

"Effective immediately, Ambassador Woolsey is no longer a Senior Adviser to President-elect Trump or the transition," Woolsey's spokesman, Jonathan Franks, wrote in a statement that was first reported by CNN's Jeremy Diamond. "He wishes the President-elect and his Administration great success in their time in office."

Woolsey resigned after being cut out of intelligence talks with Trump and his national security adviser, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, The Washington Post's Philip Rucker reported.

Pres-Elect seems distinct from his Administration

'their time in office' almost sounds like however long that may be

That also appears to me to be a loaded phrase. I believe that as a former Director, Woosley still has access to CIA intel and analysis reports. I hate getting my hopes up, but if another shoe is about to drop, Woolsey would be among the first outside of the CIA to know.

They may have little choice but to accept a titular head of state

who has very little actual power. I can't believe our intelligent apparatus
would allow actual foreign control. Or maybe I read one or two spy novels
too many

Putin would benefit from Trump or his team being compromised, almost as much as would be for Trump's treason to be known. The former would hollow out our defenses from the inside, the latter would severely damage the people's trust and faith in the US Government, which sadly coincides with the GOP's operating philosophy.

Either way, entire departments that are sworn to defend this nation against it's enemies, foreign or domestic, cannot under any circumstances allow a traitor to remain at or near the heart of American leadership.

What asset or circumstance, could possibly allow a nationally lethal situation to continue?

To minimize these, and on what timetable, is insomnia itself

Thus the drip, drip may continue for awhile.

Very astute, btw. Hats off to you!

He didn't step in to try to protect America by advising Trump AFTER he was elected. Woolsey helped elect Trump.

I spit on Woolsey. And I worry even more because now he has no way to protect us from the monster he helped create.

He was asked about trump skipping the intel briefings and his response was there are other ways to get it and he brought up how Clinton preferred to read it on his own.

How the fuck is that comparable ? Clinton it's still getting the briefings and trump isn't.

Yep,true. FACT is Woolsey, Trump isn't even getting the briefings period. Way to busy most days playing golf to be concerned with it all. I guess he figured he'd shouldn't trash talk Trump on the way out the door but his leaving isn't fooling anyone.

that lead him to help get Trump elected. His psychologist can read it because I'm not interested in how he tries to rescue his reputation for the history books.
