Trump meets with vaccine skeptic Robert Kennedy Jr.

Source: USA Today

Donald Trump met Tuesday with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., and the president-elect and longtime environmental activist discussed what many regard as a public health conspiracy theory: vaccines.

Like Trump, Kennedy has questioned whether vaccines cause autism, a claim consistently debunked by medical professionals across the board.

In March 2014 — before he became a presidential candidate — Trump said on Twitter: "Healthy young child goes to doctor, gets pumped with massive shot of many vaccines, doesn't feel good and changes - AUTISM. Many such cases!"

Kennedy, the son of former 1960s-era attorney general, U.S. senator and Democratic presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy, has promoted a documentary film linking autism to the vaccine preservative thimerosal and criticizing public health officials who dispute that claim.

Good book by RFK Jr. I respect his environmentalism.

I must be a turnip, because I hadn't heard about the vaccine thing. Will have to google. I'm not real keen on vaccinating my animals every year, after reading enough opinions from veterinarians that they are not necessary, and can be harmful. Tied to some cancers. I've had three dogs die from lymphoma over the years.

After the first few years vaccines are not safe for dogs. Honest vets not trying to make a buck will tell you that. I have never vaccinated any of my many dogs past 5 and they (all large dogs) have all lived past 15.

President-elect Donald Trump met with Robert Kennedy Jr., a prominent vaccine skeptic, on Tuesday. According to incoming White House press secretary Sean Spicer, the two discussed “the issues pertaining to vaccines and immunizations.”

After the meeting concluded, Kennedy told reporters that Mr. Trump had asked him to “chair a commission on vaccination safety and scientific integrity.” Kennedy said he told Mr. Trump he would chair such a commission, and that their meeting was held at Mr. Trump’s request.

Kennedy, the eldest son of liberal icon Sen. Robert Kennedy, was best known as an environmental advocate before increasingly devoting his time to the supposed dangers of vaccines.

Mr. Trump has repeatedly shared his belief that there is a link between vaccines and autism.
