Obama Administration Ending Wet Foot-Dry Foot Policy

Obama Administration Ending ‘Wet Foot-Dry Foot’ Policy

The Obama Administration is ending the so-called “wet foot, dry foot” policy that granted residency to Cubans who arrived in the United States without visas.

That’s according to a senior administration official, who said the policy change was effective immediately.

The official said the U.S. and Cuba have spent several months negotiating the change, including an agreement from Cuba to allow those turned away from the U.S. to return.

The move comes about a week before President Barack Obama leaves office and is likely the last major change he will make to his overhaul of the U.S. relationship with Cuba.

They should have to go through the same process as families fleeing narco-violence in Central America and Mexico.

I just had a (Trumper) at work tell me: Obama did this to punish Cuban refugees because Cubans voted for Trump...Of course he can't wait till 1/20 when Trump will magically make everything right again.

Most of them love the wet foot policy as it weakens Cuba. And they figure that if someone is going to risk their lives going across the gulf to leave a leftist government, they are doing it for a reason, and are more likely going to vote republican. The conservatives that I have read are going to welcome trump's reversal, especially since it's a policy change Obama made.
