Christopher Steele's Trump Dossier Allegations Defended By Sir Andrew Wood, Ex-Ambassador To Russia
Source: HuffPo UK
A former British ambassador to Russia has said that Christopher Steele, the former British spy at the centre of an explosive dossier about US president-elect Donald Trump, would not have just made it up.
Sir Andrew Wood said he knows Steele as a very competent, professional operator.

Wood was ambassador to Moscow between 1995 and 2000.
He admitted that he spoke to Republican senator John McCain in November, alerting him to the existence of material that could compromise the president-elect. McCain then sourced a copy of the dossier through his own means.

He went on to discuss why Steele has gone into hiding, saying that Russia would certainly like to know where he got his information from, assuming his information is basically true and he hasnt just made it up, which I dont believe for a moment, and they are accustomed to take action.

(10,021 posts)The dossier must contain verifiable damning information. If the information was all "fake" he would be in no real danger except for ridicule.

Russians not only hacked emails and generated fake news
but hacked into voting systems as well. Evidence to that is
Ron Baiman's (Ph. D.) exit poll analysis in addition to violation of pre-election predictions plus reports that numerous states had their election data breached.

(10,021 posts)The BuzzFeed published dossier was planted deliberately as misinformation (ala the Dan Rather/Bush AWOL document). If Steele is actually hiding and scared for his life, he knows his sources pretty damn well and did not just inflate his investigation with hearsay.

(48,975 posts)A former British ambassador to Moscow has revealed the role he played in bringing the explosive dossier about Donald Trumps alleged links to Russia to the attention of the US intelligence agencies.
Sir Andrew Wood was consulted about the claims by Senator John McCain at a security conference in Canada shortly after the US election.
Wood said he did not have the dossier but that McCain obtained it from his own sources. It was written by former British MI6 agent Christopher Steele and handed to the director of the FBI, James Comey.
I told him I was aware of what was in the report but I had not read it myself, that it might be true, it might be untrue. I had no means of judging really, he told BBC Radio 4s Today programme.

Very effective, that Mr. Murdoch.

He sees globally, uses the whole chess board and doesn't limit himself to England, Australia or America. He's a true international wheeler dealer creep. Outing Steele is probably just part of some other game he's up to. It's not that he's brilliant---he's just borderless and without conscience, so anything---any country---goes.

(15,286 posts)J Edgar Hoover kept the exact same kind of dossiers on many people. They were full of everything from true facts to the wildest rumors. It doesn't surprise me that a dossier on Trump would be similar in the range of content.

(23,099 posts)This could be why he's being so hateful to our ambassadors, he's pissed with this one? Bet it's the reason. You know everything he does is to hurt his perceived enemies and, of course, enrich himself.
