Republican Governors Warn Lawmakers About Repeal of Affordable Care Act

Source: Wall Street Journal

In recent comments and letters to Republican House leaders who sought input from state officials on potential health-system changes, several governors have voiced concerns about the effects of abruptly scrapping the 2010 law. At least nine governors and two lieutenant governors have signed up for a Thursday round table held by Senate Finance Committee Republicans on the future of the health law’s Medicaid expansion.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich, who plans to attend Thursday’s meeting, has been outspoken about the potential jolt to 700,000 people covered by the expansion of Medicaid in his state under the ACA. He has said this group includes drug addicts and the mentally ill.

There’s room for improvement, but to repeal and not to replace, I just want to know what’s going to happen to all those people who find themselves left out in the cold,” Mr. Kasich said in a recent press conference.

The debate comes as more Americans, for the first time since the law was enacted, say the ACA was a good idea than a bad one, although opinions remain sharply divided along party lines, according to a Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll.

When the GOP suddenly has to stop playing games by calling it "Obamacare" for red meat purposes as they begin to repeal it, and actually call it by its legal name - i.e., the legislation titled the "Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act", they will end up giving their dumbass supporters a real shock to the system.... Which is why they are scrambling to put a Tasmanian-Devil amount of spin on what they claim they want to do with it.

an American People revolt that will wind up with The American People pushing for Universal Health Insurance - i.e., Medicare for everyone.

I'm beginning to think that the Repugs will screw this up so bad - that the backlash will rocket Dems to recover control of the Senate and House in 2018.

But the Democrats will need to operate very carefully in this environment right now because there will be "demands" that we help to "do something" (and our habit is to do no harm and protect people from harm). But if we intervene too deeply, the "blame" will be boomeranged right back on us and the GOP will be back to being the ones to "rescue" people from us.

And Donald would openly mock them, and make fun of their suffering.
