White House press secretary Sean Spicer addressed questions on Monday about calls between Trump's national security advisor, retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, and a Russian ambassador.
"There's been one call. I talked to General Flynn about this again last night," Spicer said in response to a reporter's question at his first daily briefing from the White House.
He said that on the call, Flynn and the ambassador discussed the crash of a plane carrying the Russian military choir, exchanged holiday greetings, talked about "a conference in Syria on ISIS" and discussed setting up a future call between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"I don't believe that has been set up yet," Spicer said. "They did follow up, I'm sorry, two days ago about how to facilitate that call, once again. So there have been a total of two calls with the ambassador and General Flynn."

(4,007 posts)To say anything about Flynn when the FBI, CIA and for all we know the NSA are all taking a very close look at him, his intercepted phone discussion is amazing. Amazing for the stupidity of saying anything at all about these highly suspect calls. The smart move would have been to say nothing.
Trump is clearly spooked by this all, as evidenced that his new hit man, oophs, spokes-spinner was sent out to ahem, clear the air. And you just know Trump, in his pea-brain, thought sending our Spicer to talk about it was a good idea. NOT!

Liberal In Red State
(442 posts)They are going after everything they can get. None are afraid of being tainted by this guy. And if the FBI and CIA had anything on him . . . why did they stand by and let him take office, gain access to the secrets of this country and the nuclear codes? Here we go again, we liberals constantly fall for this type of "HOPE" . . . It's coming . . . He'll get his . . . They will be exposed and thrown out of office. Nothing is going to happen. The press is afraid to call a lie a lie. Congress is going to undo 50 years of progress, the Supreme Court will at the very best be divided for the next 20 years, and his voters are going to grow bolder and more brazen. He doesn't care, his family doesn't care, and businesses don't care. Every day, every hour of his presidency sees more and more progress rolled back and nothing is being done to stop it. He brazenly kissed his enable Commie Comey in front of the media and nothing happened. There is not even a hint of "maybe we shouldn't be so public with our collusion". They are laughing at the liberals and their leaders. They are daring them to try and stop them. And what are we doing? What if the CIA and the FBI don't go public with what they know? What if they don't prosecute him? When the likes of McCain vote in favor of his appointments knowing full well this orange ass has colluded with a foreign government to gain the Whitehouse and still support his picks!!!??!!??!! What makes you think anything will stop him? At best this will be a protracted 4 year battle to remove him and how are we going to call for impeachment hearings when we don't control Congress? And because of gerrymandering we have no hope of gaining in midterms? Yeah I am completely without HOPE and want to know why President Obama didn't do something to keep this menace from taking over. Much of this was known by the DNC before the election. George Will surmised in a published article that he was indebt to the Russian Oligarchs! Why didn't the party demand his tax returns? Why didn't they make hay out his ties to Putin? Why did the GOP candidates not press this issue with him during the primaries? What is making people stand down from confronting him? Someone knows something . . . But there is no guarantee that we the American People will ever get to know the truth. In the meantime this Grabber-in-Chief is taking a sledge hammer to what accomplishments the left has made not just during Obama's presidency but all things liberal since the 1950s!

(1,920 posts)"Not that I'm aware of," Spicer said. "And when I say that, what I'm saying is during the transition I asked General Flynn whether or not there were any other conversations beyond the ambassador and he said no."
Spicer is basically saying "When it's proven that I'm lying my ass off right now, remember that I said I was just going by what Flynn told me!" He KNOWS what he's saying is probably going to be proven wrong and is trying to minimize his future liability.
