Dear Lord.
Not that I'm shocked that he himself would make a statement, but I'm shocked that such a statement is being made in this day and age.

whatever, I just know that somewhere, the water was so polluted a
factory that drew water from the river had to stop using the river
water because it was too damaging to the machinery's piping.
...but what about my piping?

(24,695 posts)in other countries, they have to comply with the environmental regulations of the country they are trying to sell, that is business 101 economics, not fraud economics like in a University Trump world.
And does this fascists idiot not realize, that to manufacture a car with or without environmental controls drives the price up when you have two different emissions style cars, lead emissions is not good, Co2 is not good, benzene is not good, methane is not good, just for environmental starters.
I guess he wants to sell his brand of water to make up the ones that will become more polluted.
I guess he hasn't looked at Flint, Michigan lately, they still don't have clean drinking water-----------------------what a deplorable right wing hypocrite.

California has stricter emissions standards than the US as a whole, so they do produce cars with different standards for that one state.

Snowflake, you simple rube, they aren't just going to build plants or increase production unless the market calls for it.

(65,010 posts)Only in It's world. The sales of domestically produced cars went up 60% in the last 8 years all of which had these regulations, or while regulations were getting stricter. Since the "big 3" were barely afloat 9 years ago, those people know that their sales numbers and profitability are both up. They look at that stuff every day.
The only people who think regs are costing sales is It and It's supporters.

It's can only be used as a contraction for It is or It has. The possessive use of Its, as in Its World, does not have an apostrophe as other possessive pronouns, like the owner's car or the lawyer's library.
ProfessorGAC
(65,010 posts)I don't use the usurper's name. That person is "It". Therefore, IT'S imagination would be that person's imagination. It's (get it?) not a contraction for It Is, it is intended to indicate the possessive of someone i will only call "it". So, i am using it exactly as you suggest, but i admit it would be confusing because i won't use that person's name.
On Edit: To be slightly clearer, if i used that person's name it would be T****'s. Since i only use "it" that word is a substitute for the name.
So, while i know the grammar well, and you are correct, in this case the context changes things.
ffr
(22,669 posts)Professor,
It's difficult to read saying "Therefore, IT IS imagination would be that person's imagination." It Is imagination?
I see this all the time with the use of too and to. That item costs to much or is to small. Substitute ta for to and you can see how difficult this becomes to read. That item costs ta much or is ta small. Because when you read 'I went from here to there,' you can substitute ta and it still flows. I went from here ta there.
Do what you want, but using IT'S as anything but a contraction for It IS or It HAS just makes for difficult reading and comprehension.
It's v. its.
ProfessorGAC
(65,010 posts)The grammar is specific to the application where i will substitute "it" for that person's name.
In ALL other circumstances, i use it correctly and normally.
I'm bending the rules because i won't mention "it" by name.
On Edit: You folks are thinking you're lecturing me on proper grammar. I know the proper grammar. I'm choosing to ignore it in this frame of reference.

I know the grammar. I disagree that in this context the standard grammatical rules apply.
