Man fired from Trump flying role over battery charge appears at Mar-a-Lago
Source: The Guardian
A man who was fired from his job as a pilot on Donald Trumps presidential campaign, after the Guardian revealed that he was charged with a violent crime, was this weekend at the presidents estate in Florida, claiming to be part of his security team.
Vincent Caldara, who was accused of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, was at the US presidents private resort, Mar-a-Lago, where Trump is hosting the Japanese prime minister, Shinzo Abe. Caldara was also present as the president and Abe played golf at Trumps private club in Jupiter on Saturday.
The exact nature of Caldaras responsibilities was unclear. He appeared to be a member of a team of local Republicans voluntarily assisting with the presidents visit, each of whom was wearing lanyards featuring a White House seal. Caldara did not respond to an email seeking comment.
However, the 56-year-old former New York police officer, who was also chairman of the Trump campaigns Florida law enforcement coalition, suggested publicly that he was helping to provide security for Trump.
