The top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee said they will be investigating Trump Senior Adviser Kellyanne Conways comments plugging Ivanka Trumps clothing line from the White House on national TV, calling it a textbook example of violating the law.
The woman who has become the face of the Trump administration set off a firestorm on Thursday after she gave a commercial on Fox & Friends, encouraging viewers to go out and buy some of the first daughters fashion line that is faltering in department stores.
Its a wonderful line, I own some of it, Conway said. Im going to give it a free commercial here, go buy it today!
According to Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-MD), his committee has no choice but to investigate Conway for breaking the law by using a public office for private gain.

(58,785 posts)I'm wishing the ONE being singled out for crimes committed wasn't the woman. Equal as she may be as scum, there are far bigger felons to fry. A number of them. Well, if they're trying to pick her off as a weak point, oh, well. She deserves whatever could happen and far, far more.

(1,366 posts)I mean, I'm ok with the investigation, but it's pretty small -- and there is so, so much big wrong-doing.

(58,785 posts)you sound like someone who might want to know (or not)--Scott Baio is boycotting Nordstrom's.
Probably any rise in stock prices from him is too small to measure, unlike the nice increase dropping the Ivanka line and the 45th's subsequent behavior generated.

(12,022 posts)Conway's guilty of only a venal sin. There are mortal sins we should focus on.

(58,785 posts)If that had happened close to the election, before virtually all conservatives managed to rationalize their acceptance and blow it off, it would have changed everything.
But during its moment it was huge, much larger than mere mental dysfunction and repeated whiffs of treason in a candidate who proudly boasted of cheating and corruption as tactics of a winner.
Get them ALL. Big, small, micro, nano. ALL of them.

(10,252 posts)although A) she could have asked someone during the transition, or B) called in someone from the Ethics office to brief her. But she didn't. It just goes to the carelessness and recklessness of that whole crew.

Did any of these jackasses go any of their briefings on protocol or basic rules of being staff in the government? What a bunch of maroons.

45 said it himself when he bragged he could shoot someone down on 5th Ave. and not lose a follower. And they have the media in their pocket too.

Are they going to see if Conway benefited materially from what she said?

(60 posts)Has anyone bothered to establish a financial link between Conway and Ms. Trump? Kind of hard to indict based on "breaking the law by using a public office for private gain" if the party being charged gets no tangible gain from their alleged wrongdoing.
