Chris Hayes: Harward Declined Job Due to WH Not Meeting His Conditions, Trump's Presser
Source: Mediaite
No, what reportedly did it for Harward is that his conditions were not met. The first was that there be a clear chain of command, and the second was that the structure of the National Security Council be restored so advisors like Steve Bannon would not be on the principals committee.
Hayes source reportedly said that Harward wrote to the White House early morning Thursday turning down the job, but the White House asked him to reconsider, which he did. But, Hayes adds, Harward again decided no after watching the presidents press conference yesterday.
Such a decision would indicate, Hayes concluded, the presidents press conference and more generally his temperament has impaired his ability to fill this vital role.
It appears that Harward will be one of the guests on ABCs This Week on Sunday to presumably address the matter himself.

So... Harward did not want to deal with Bannon, and after yesterday's presser decided he didn't want to work for Trump. either.
Wonder if Bannon's little Pravda, Breitbart -- or Twitler himself -- will go after Harward now.

(58,785 posts)Bannon's agent, that she would be able to stay, something Harward reportedly heard from media, not Trump himself. Harward also intended to replace a bunch of people, including some talking heads from Fox (!), with professionals.
From Foreign Policy before Bannon won out over Harward and Petraeus: "At this point, Mattis has far greater influence over former military officers than the president does. His presence at the Pentagon is the sole reason some are considering climbing aboard Trumps sinking ship."

This is what Benedict Donald has brought to America. This is what Admiral Harward is refusing to countenance.
