Comey talks Russia with senators in closed-door briefing
Source: CNN
Washington (CNN) FBI Director James Comey discussed Russia with members of the Senate Intelligence Committee Friday afternoon, as questions swirl about how expansive lawmakers will make their investigations into Russia's influence in last year's election.
The senators were tight-lipped as they left the meeting to start their week-long recess, but one attendee said the closed-door briefing was about Russia. Florida Republican Sen. Marco Rubio, who was at the meeting, would not comment afterward but later tweeted: "I am now very confident Senate Intel Comm I serve on will conduct thorough bipartisan investigation of #Putin interference and influence."
Warner also said the committee has put in place a process to ensure the White House does not destroy documents lawmakers need for their investigation.

Once it goes through said committee, this scandal will wear more whitewash than Mykonos.

(86,650 posts)all federal workers are supposed to do, not destroy documentation involved with any federal investigation. Most of us have to take a training session on it at least once a year, some must go through it more often. There are many training modules for this, the one I'm most familiar with is FISSA.

(6,017 posts)Why do I have zero confidence that any investigation will be impartial and follow every lead it should to ensure a foreign government hasn't been influencing our government?

(4,673 posts)you to sub-zero.
Any investigation needs to be an independent commission outside of Congress. But, they'll do something because they have to, then say nothing to see here, and continue to insist there was an investigation.
