In Amended Libel Lawsuit, Melania Trump Now Includes Hooker Statement from NY Times Reporter

Source: Law Newz

First Lady Melania Trump has abandoned her claim that she planned to cash in on her First Lady “brand” to sell “apparel, accessories, shoes, jewelry, cosmetics, hair care, skin care and fragrance” from her White House perch.

Melania Trump’s lawyer, Charles Harder, filed an amended complaint on Friday in her New York libel lawsuit against the Daily Mail, deleting the First Lady’s claims that she planned to make millions from her White House fame described in her first version of the lawsuit. But, in this suit, she did include a ‘statement from a New York Times reporter who called her a “hooker.”

Gone from the new version of the lawsuit are the First Lady’s earlier allegations that the Daily Mail’s “false” story deprived her of a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, as an extremely famous and well-known person … to launch a broad-based commercial brand in multiple product categories.”

But Melania Trump did not drop her claim that she is entitled to $300 million in damages from the online tabloid. She still seeks $150 million in damages in her defamation claim and an additional $150 million in damages in her claim for intentional infliction for emotional distress.

OR both.

He loved suing or threatening to sue people (often people with no means to fight him) but now he can't. His mentor Roy Cohn was his bloodthirsty lawyer who loved taking it to people. Donald now has to rely on the DoJ and its limited resources and cost/benefit analysis. This lawsuit is a bad idea on so many levels but that's never stopped him before.

From teh Farcebook:

I have been a feminist since I was old enough to make up my own mind about my beliefs. I have marched, burned bras, burned draft cards, supported abortion rights by helping people get to NY when it was still illeagal in FL. Melania is a horrible greedy person who hurts others for her own personal financial gain. One of the papers she's suing issued a full apology, but that's not good enough for her, no she wants the $$. Just like she wanted to cash in on being FLOTUS but had to amend her lawsuit because it's illegal. However, the fact that she expects to cash in by rights shows how shallow, self-serving and uncaring about the law and our country she is. She freaking wore a purse with a British flag on it to her husband's nomination as repug candidate. She says she's coming out against cyberbullying when her husband and she are the biggest bullies of all. She's low class porno star and I said all this without using any woman centric insults. However, she is a woman, married to a horrible person who treats her like dirt, and she stays for $$. That's golddigging at it's worst and her treatment of the media shows she' a conniving bitch.

If you watched Rachel Maddow on Friday, you would have known that her Attorneys are the same ones that Hulk Hogan used to take down Gawker. This is a war on the media and she's leading it. They're trying to muzzle and send a chill down the collective spine of all Media.

And with the removal of the her "trinkets for the people" claim, her attorney may have handed the defense a pretty compelling argument that actual damages are a chimera, leaving her with token damages. While untenable defense costs can be an effective muzzle, the defendants here are pretty well-heeled, and a token damage award won't do much to muzzle them in particular.
