Utah Tea Party activist Greg Peterson accused of multiple rapes

Life sentence possible » In two cases, Gregory N. Peterson is suspected of taking victims to a cabin in Heber.

A Republican activist is accused of raping four women — two of whom say they were taken to the cabin where the man hosted major political events.

Gregory Nathan Peterson, 37, of Orem, was charged Wednesday 3rd District Court in Salt Lake City with 23 felony counts, including rape and kidnapping, and two misdemeanors. He was booked into the Salt Lake County jail and remained there Thursday in lieu of $750,000 bail.

Charging documents allege sexual assaults against four women in Salt Lake County beginning March 26, 2011. In the first case, the documents allege, Peterson met a woman at a church function and she agreed to go to a movie with him.

But instead of going to a theater, the papers allege, Peterson told the woman he had a gun and took her to his cabin in Heber. The documents allege he sexually assaulted the woman while she said no and hit her when she did not do as he wished. Peterson drove the woman back to her vehicle the next morning.

I've been searching high and low and I can't find much of a web presence other than the charges. Either this guy spent all his time praying and did all his fundraising in the temple or he's been keeping a super low profile for many years.

That tells me he's got a whole lot more to hide.

may have hesitated to come forward, thinking it would be their word against a "fine family man." Or the police didn't take them seriously, until the victims started stacking up.

Free associating, this reminds me of serial rapes in San Jose, CA when I lived in the area. Multiple victims were basically ignored; the police only got worked up and caught the guy after a nun was raped. Cause women who aren't nuns are sluts who deserve it, I guess.

Aren't they all.... No, not all, just most.

This article examines associations between self-reported religious affiliations and official offense histories among 111 incarcerated adult male sexual offenders. Four categories of religiosity were devised according to self-reported continuities and discontinuities in life-course religious affiliations: atheists, dropouts, converts, and stayers. ANCOVAs indicated that stayers (those who maintained religious involvement from childhood to adulthood) had more sexual offense convictions, more victims, and younger victims, than other groups.

Hope he hasn't been getting kickbacks for using his property for political purposes, as well.

talks so familiar now. For a rapist to say that your are not a good leader, sounds like an endorsement for Obama to me. And since he's uttering the talking points they all use, there must be a way to show how he represents the Republican Party as far as policies go.

Not to mention how he delivers the talking points which they all use. Tying those talking points coming from the rest of them, to HIM, would be awesome. But it would take a clever person to work on that, which I'm sure we can find!

Also need to screen cap his FB page before it gets scrubbed. As I said in another comment, we learned from O'Keefe that once they are exposed, they do a lot of scrubbing and we were not prepared for that with O'Keefe who scrubbed all his racist comments before anyone screen-capped them.
