What do the Russians have on Trump?: Bernie Sanders demands more information on the FBI investigation

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on Thursday pressed for more information on the ongoing FBI investigation into possible collusion between the Donald Trump campaign and Russian officials, asking why the president has nothing but nice things to say about Russian President Vladimir Putin.
What do the Russians have on Mr. Trump? Sanders asked.

Sanders has been an active critic of the Trump administration, though hes promised to work with the president on areas of common ground, including infrastructure. Recent developments in the FBIs investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election seems to have soured any semblance of good will between the men.

(2,419 posts)Republicans pretend their cybersecurity was so good that Russians couldn't hack it. Yeah, right.
Need confirmation that RNC was hacked too. Read it somewhere long ago, forget link.

(108,978 posts)Stefanik, a Republican, asked Comey if the Russian hackers only targeted Democratic politicians.
"Can you specify those others?" Stefanik asked. "Did that include the RNC? Did that include any of the other campaigns of candidates in the primaries, Democrats or Republicans?"
Comey told Stefanik that Republicans were targeted by Russian government hackers, but that only Democratic Party materials were leaked to the press, as part of efforts to influence November's election.
"There were not releases of material taken, hacked from any Republican-associated organizations," Comey replied.

But the intelligence agencies conclusions that the hacking efforts were successful, which have been presented to President Obama and other senior officials, add a complex wrinkle to the question of what the Kremlins evolving objectives were in intervening in the American presidential election.
We now have high confidence that they hacked the D.N.C. and the R.N.C., and conspicuously released no documents from the Republican organization, one senior administration official said, referring to the Russians.

In fact I actually posted links to those callouts for a poster just a few days ago when they said they hadn't noticed it. I was shocked that someone would be unaware of his criticism since it could easily be accessed by doing a simple search. I wonder if they ever bothered to read my post? Oh well, I added it to my journal for easy reference and will add this post too for people who are Google challenged.

WASHINGTON, Feb. 15 Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) Wednesday asked the leaders of the Senate Intelligence Committee to investigate the relationship between President Donald Trump and the Russian government.
It is incumbent upon the Congress to take seriously its constitutional responsibilities. The American people must have confidence that governmental decisions reflect their interests, not that of a foreign government. A robust investigation by the Senate Intelligence Committee is critical to restoring that confidence, Sanders wrote in the letter to Sen. Richard Burr (R-N.C.) and Sen. Mark Warner (D-Va.), the chairman and ranking member, respectively, of the intelligence panel.
The U.S. intelligence community has concluded that Russia played an active role in the 2016 election with the goal of electing Trump as president. Additionally, multiple media outlets reported last week that U.S. intelligence services have verified portions of a dossier that alleges that Russian agents hold damaging evidence about Trumps past personal and business dealings that could possibly make Trump susceptible to blackmail.
There also have been reports that the Trump administrations contacts with the Russian government are having both a chilling effect in the intelligence community and jeopardizing longstanding relationships with our allies.
Throughout his campaign, and continuing to today, President Trump has refused to come clean with the American people about the nature and extent of his relationship with Russia, Sanders wrote/.
Every day that President Trump and his team dodge these questions, and every time their previous denials are revealed as false, that confidence is further diminished.

Bernie will continue to be a thorn in Twitler's side and I applaud his efforts. He never stops fighting for all of us.

(16,858 posts)I'd be happy to post Sanders' very clear response to the Wikileaks email dump. What he said was that, and I'm paraphrasing, the emails only showed a heated primary and that his own emails would have been just as heated. That response wasn't months passed, as you suggest, it was at the time of the email leaks. But let's bash Bernie for Russian interference with the election.

(2,536 posts)they were getting help they didn't want from the claims that were unproven about Hillary on the internet. Posters were joining Bernie groups on Facebook and other sites and making claims they knew to be outlandish and Bernie's people were reporting them as such. I was a Hillary supporter and I have to give points to them for being up front and open about the whole thing.
