Cop caught on video taking down, beating alleged jaywalker

Source: CBS News

April 12, 2017, 8:57 AM

SACRAMENTO -- A Sacramento police officer has been placed on administrative leave after throwing a pedestrian to the ground and striking him in the face multiple times in an incident captured on video, CBS San Francisco reports.

In a press release, the department said, “the videos of this incident portray actions and behavior that we would consider unacceptable conduct by a Sacramento Police Officer. As a result, the Department’s Internal Affairs Division is investigating the event.”

The incident happened at 5:07 p.m. Monday in the Del Paso Heights neighborhood of Sacramento.

The video, posted by Naomi Montaie, starts by showing the incident unfolding from inside a vehicle. The officer and the man are seen standing in the middle of a residential street exchanging words. What they are saying is inaudible.

He was handcuffed and on the ground laying still & that cop was still yelling at him. And look how many cars showed up over one guy . Geez. This is a bad state of affairs.

it is unlawful to cross the street except at the corner? That is ridiculous. The cop was harassing that guy and should face charges.

In most neighborhoods, people roam the street in front of their houses free range. People come outside. Skateboard, play basketball, light fireworks, talk to neighbors, work on cars, ride bikes, walk pets, stop the ice cream man or double park a delivery truck, and sometimes stand in the street talking to someone in a car or to other neighbors, etc. -- all with no complaints. And they just get outta the way if cars drive by.

Many residential streets have no more than one or two cars per hour. I am not talking larger thru streets, but small streets like the one in the video. Cops have no right flexing the badge like that. It looks bad, alienates minority communities and isn't worth the stir it creates. They are supposed to be peacekeepers, not outside agitators.

still be a violation but most cops would ignore or if they if they took any action they might give a warning to the person as a reminder but to beat someone for it? Thats just crossing a huge line and even if the cop wasnt beating him for it but rather for what he might have said to the cop thats still crossing a huge line and the cop needs to be fired and charged with assault plain and simple.

Nothing to see - move along.

5 cop cars for nothing.
7 thugs, with nothing else to do show up.
1 African American beaten down for no reason,
1 man will lose his job for this insanity.

Welcome to the New America.
