Three dead in central Fresno shooting rampage; suspect caught, linked to Motel 6 slaying Read more

Source: Fresno Bee

Three people were shot and killed after a man went on a shooting rampage Tuesday in Fresno, randomly shooting at four white men, killing three, before he was taken into custody, police Chief Jerry Dyer said.

The 39-year-old suspect, identified as Kori Ali Muhammad, is also suspected in the fatal shooting of a security guard outside a Motel 6 on Blackstone Avenue in central Fresno Thursday. He is facing four counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder, Dyer said. He said Muhammad had expressed dislike of whites in Facebook posts; all of the victims were white. Dyer called it a “random act of violence.”

Two of the people shot outside Catholic Charities, on Fulton Street just north of downtown, may have been clients of the social service agency, not employees, Dyer said. The third victim was a passenger in a Pacific Gas & Electric truck. A fourth man was shot at but not injured.

Dyer said the gunman walked up to a PG&E truck in the 300 block of North Van Ness Avenue about 10:45 a.m. and shot the passenger repeatedly. The driver of the pickup then sped to Fresno police headquarters on M Street. The second shooting was only a few seconds later and was at Van Ness and Mildreda Street, where the gunman shot at but missed a resident. The gunman then turned onto Fulton Street and fired several rounds at another man, striking and killing him, Dyer said. After reloading at a bus stop, the gunman then shot and killed a man in the parking lot of Catholic Charities in the 100 block of North Fulton Street, he said.

He hated and targeted, and killed Whites. But lets not focus on the fact that this is a Hate Crime. Let's focus on the OP, and claim he's a racist.

It does not seem to me likely to be a terrorist act, but rather an act of hatred. More akin to Roof than anything else.

The mass murderer probably has a screw or two loose, and who knows, in a month or two it may develop that he has a significant history of mental problems.

was an AA Muslim. Amedy Coulibaly. The race doesn't matter. The ideology and the willingness to use violence to back up that ideology is what matters.

If the man expressed hatred for all white people, and all his victims were white, was this really a random act?

As in the victims weren't targeted specifically as individuals, but were in the wrong place at the wrong time when this guy decided to go out murdering white people.

People with deep issues and violence triggers, especially those with race-based philosophy or religion, are bound to be on the edge.

I know I am, and I tend to think anthropologically, not racially. Most people I know feel profound anger right now.

Wait until Trump gets impeached.

The Fresno man suspected of killing three people has several aliases, a 2006 conviction for being a crack cocaine dealer and being a felon in possession of a firearm, and has been diagnosed with suffering from psychosis “with a substantial degree of paranoia,” according to court records in U.S. District Court in Fresno.

Court records say Kori Ali Muhammad, 39, also is known by Kori McWallace, Kori Taylor, Cory Allen and Cory Allen Muhammad.

His Facebook page says that he attended Grant Joint Union High School in Sacramento and studied multimedia at Cosumnes River College. But officials at the college said Tuesday they were unable to confirm that he had attended either school. He attended Grant for one semester his senior year.

In his life of crime, he racked up nine criminal cases in Sacramento Superior Court between 1997 and 2004, including a gun conviction, online records indicate. His criminal record includes making criminal threats, forgery, false imprisonment and driving under the influence, online records state.
