Trumps missing armada finally heading to Korea and may stay a while

Source: MSN/Washington Post

BEIJING — It was supposed to be steaming towards North Korea more than a week ago, an “armada” signaling American resolve. Then it wasn’t.

Now, it seems the USS Carl Vinson may finally be heading north.

“Our deployment has been extended 30 days to provide a persistent presence in the waters off the Korean Peninsula,” Rear Admiral Jim Kilby, the commander of Carrier Strike Group One, said in a message posted on the Carl Vinson’s Facebook page addressed to “families and loved ones” of the personnel on board.

The Carl Vinson, accompanied by a carrier air wing, two guided-missile destroyers and a cruiser, was supposed to have been ordered to sail north after leaving Singapore on April 8. But a week later, the Navy published photos showing it was actually sailing the opposite direction through the Sunda Strait between the Indonesia islands of Sumatra and Java, more than 3,000 miles southwest of the Korean Peninsula — and more than 500 miles southeast of Singapore.

Hey, does this make the Trump administration's lies retroactively, true?

Fact checking for actual news sites must be a full time, multiperson job right now.

Add this to the idea that a single carrier strike group is "an Armada, very powerful".

I hate Trump so much.

....the U.S. Navy Third Fleet’s Carl Vinson Carrier Strike Group instead ended up near Australia last week — nearly 4,900 miles away from where it was officially supposed to be.

The air travel distance from California to New York is equal to 2,441 miles.

How fast can armada move 3,000-4,900 miles? Meaning how quickly could they get to Korean Peninsula?

7. For 4,000 miles about 5 1/2 days at 30 miles an hour, 24 hours a day

faster if there is a oiler to refuel the cruiser and 2 destroyers that are with the USS Carl Vinson. Just like a car, the faster you go the greater the fuel consumption and while that isn't an issue for the USS Carl Vinson, it is something that has to be kept in mind for the escorts.

It's mostly a moot point, the USS Ronald Reagan is home ported in Yokosuka, Japan and should have just come out of a 4 month restricted availability (probably due to either maintenance or training requirements) period

A US carrier group and ground troops have been stationed in Japan for many years since the treaty ending WWII required Japan to completely demilitarize.
