Lawmakers revisiting requiring those on Medicaid to work

Source: ap

,,,,,,
In a recent letter to governors, HHS Secretary Price and Seema Verma, the new head of Medicare and Medicaid, suggested that work itself can be good for health. "The best way to improve the long-term health of low-income Americans is to empower them with skills and employment," they wrote.

Liberals are relishing the contrast if Trump pursues tax cuts for the wealthy while putting the poor to work. "The Republican focus is backwards," said Senate Democratic leader Chuck Schumer of New York.

Work requirements are under discussion in a number of states, and the first test for the Trump administration could come on a pending waiver application by Kentucky. The proposal from Republican Gov. Matt Bevin would allow the state to suspend coverage for able-bodied adults who don't comply. Job training and caring for a disabled relative would count toward fulfilling the obligation. "Medically frail" people dealing with certain conditions, from substance abuse to cancer, would be exempt.

Are they planning on increasing the budget for job training, building more vo-tech schools, employing extra admin personnel to perform employment checks? And just for grins and giggles exactly how many able bodied unemployed people are on Medicare and Medicaid? Wouldn't it be better to increase oversight in the claims process so we no longer read about doctors scamming millions and millions of dollars from those two programs? I haven't read a single article about a major insurance carrier getting scammed out of millions and millions of dollars. But then again, why would this administration want to punish a bunch of grifters?

why not bring back child labor so they can pay for their teachers, books, pencils,
computers .... no sense in taxing capital assets like houses to pay for them ... this
would jump the value of housing as taxes went down ... children have been given a
free ride long enough ... make America great again for child labor ... they haven't done
a decent day's work since coal mines in 1910

Yet the "state" is simply unable to determine the difference. Sadly that won't stop small hearted snobs from dredging up this bullshit - be they Victorians, Thatcherites, Reganites, or Trump in his golden palace. God forbid we let the poor receive support, love, and respect.

"Man, that will hard on all those unemployed enjoying the High Life of be being poor!"

So all the retired people, disabled and sick people need to pull themselves by their boot straps should go and find a nice paying construction job. Maybe a job at Walmart, that's an easy place to work. Time card tampering unpaid, no insurance, sounds like a plan to me.

A lot of people are on Medicaid due to disability. Another large bunch is those with babies and very small children, they can't afford to work due to the high cost of child care. What about others who can't find work because they were convicted with felony pot charges, people aren't going to hire them just because Hair Furor says so. Crazy-ass fuckers just poor shaming without caring anything about the reasons.
