Sean Hannity latest Fox News host accused of sexual harassment; denies claims

Source: AL.com

Sean Hannity is the latest Fox News host accused of sexually harassing a woman appearing on one of the network's programs.

In an interview this weekend, former Fox News contributor Debbie Schlussel said Hannity once invited her back to his hotel room while they were at an event in Detroit.

"He had some event at a bookstore where he signed his book for people standing in line. He asked me to come meet him at this book signing," Schlussel said, according to a report in the New York Daily News. "So I met him there and it was very awkward. He had me stand up there with him while he signed books and I felt very weird. These people don't know me and they didn't come for me to sign their books. So then I left to get ready for the show and he said, 'Why don't you come back with me to my hotel?' and I said no, I have to get ready for the show."

In another incident, Schlussel said she was berated while appearing on Hannity's show. Then, she said, the host once again propositioned her. She declined and was never invited to appear on the show again.

So I wouldn't believe anything she said, even about a cretin like Hannity

then expect to get fleas. Metaphorical dog that is.

Without independent verification this story barely rises to the level of National Enquirer.

Plenty of other things to be critical of Hannity about, I would not touch this story with a ten foot pole (remember the Killian documents?).

I didn't realize asking someone to come to your room was sexual harassment. Did he force her? or touch her?

I'm not a fan of Hannity or the news show,

Not inviting her back on the show. Virtually impossible to prove. I would stay away from the story without independent verification which I cannot imagine could happen (a producer saying Hannity told him/her to not book Schussel because she would not be accommodating).

Sexual invitations in work situations are always close to the line on the sexual harassment front, in particular where the individual doing the asking has power over the individual being asked. There doesn't have to be forcing or unwanted touching - that would make it sexual assault.

The power relationship was my greatest concern about that affair.

Note especially the bolded sections below.

The United States' Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) defines workplace sexual harassment as "unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitute sexual harassment when this conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual's employment, unreasonably interferes with an individual's work performance, or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment
