Russian Navy Ship Sinks In Black Sea After Collision With Freighter

Source: NBC

Almost 80 Russian Navy sailors were rescued off the coast of Turkey Thursday when a military intelligence ship collided with a freighter carrying livestock.

The Turkish coastal safety authority said the Russian ship, identified as the "Liman", collided with the Togo-flagged "Youzarsif H". The Liman is a former research vessel that the Russian navy has retro-fitted into a reconnaissance ship.

In total, 78 were rescued and there were no injuries reported on the freighter.

Turkey's Bosphorus Strait, which cuts through Istanbul, is one of the world's most important waterways for transit of oil and grains. The 17-mile waterway connects the Black Sea to the Mediterranean.

Turkish shipping agency GAC said that the collision was caused due to fog and low visibility 18 miles from Kilyos village, on the Black Sea coast just north of Istanbul.

Think about it. If they always lied and nobody actually died, lying would be saying somebody died when nobody did.

You can't tell if they're lying when they look good or they have motivation to make others look bad.

Close-up satellite image of the Bosphorus strait, taken from the ISS in April 2004. The body of water at the top is the Black Sea, the one at the bottom is the Marmara Sea, and the Bosphorus is the winding waterway that connects the two. The western banks of the Bosphorus constitute the geographic starting point of the European continent, while the banks to the east are the geographic beginnings of the continent of Asia. The city of Istanbul is visible along both banks.

Was the livestock allowed to drown? No matter what species, that's a horrible way for them to go.

I don't think conditions are ever good for 'livestock' shipped by barge.

Extra days without food, water, unload the barge for 'rest' can't be good for the animals.

Even in USA the few little 'regulations' livestock have aren't enforced or obeyed.

Watched a documentary about how Australia ships boatloads of beef every year. The process is very humane, the cattle are treated very well. Plenty of food, water, an cooling air blown between decks. They also have vets n board to monitor animal health. Sick animals are disposed of overboard.

You know this could have even been some deal between the two ships that messed up when they were passing something smuggled between ships.
