McMaster Now Says Reports Trump Revealed Highly Classified Intel False

Source: Talking Points Memo

In a curt statement from the White House driveway, National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster on Monday said an explosive Washington Post report that President Donald Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian officials was, “as reported,” “false.”

Carefully choosing his words, McMaster said that Trump did not speak about “intelligence sources or methods” during a meeting last week in the Oval Office with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

The Post story does not allege that Trump divulged sources or methods in that meeting, but rather that the United States was not authorized to share the information the President revealed to the Russian officials about an Islamic State threat involving the use of laptop computers on aircraft. Anonymous officials familiar with the meeting told the newspaper that the conversation could jeopardize one of the intelligence community’s key sources on ISIL.

You must listen carefully to the words he has chosen. The Chicago Tribune is reporting it's not really a denial.

To make it sound like they made different claims than what they did. No responsible source should print lies for headlines.

content, methods, and sources. Lackeys can claim he did not leak methods or sources. The blabbing Trump did was likely information --some are saying from the Israelis, who are known to have extensive networks of intelligence. Trump is so dumb he wouldn't understand the risk.

Time to pin him down and make him give a yes or no answer to the question, Did tRump share classified intel of any sort with the Russian ambassador? Hold him to it when he tries to weasel his way out.

McMaster threw up a straw man (sources or methods) then said the story is false as reported. But that is not what was reported. McMaster damages himself here because he is just muddying the water rather than addressing the issue head on. All just spin, spin, spin.

In essence, he confirmed they were talking about sensitive intel on ISIS planning laptop bomb attacks on airplanes. That was what the WaPo story was about. He did not deny that the country that gave us this info did NOT give us permission to share it with anyone, nor did he deny that administration officials were forced to scramble to contain the damage by calling the CIA and NSA to give them a heads up that Trump blabbed this info to Lavrov. McMaster did not deny that Trump told Lavrov the name of the ISIS-controlled city related to this intel, thus potentially compromising sources. Indeed, the identity of the city was so sensitive WaPo said it would not reveal it in their story.

Instead, McMaster made shit up about the WaPo story that it did not say (that Trump directly revealed sources and methods) in order to have something to deny. Standard manipulative, dishonest hackery. That is why he refused to answer any questions from reporters and rushed back into the White House after barking out his "denial." McMaster joins the shameful ranks of Kellyanne Conway, Sean Spicer, et al. in putting service to Trump over service to country. If there is a Hell, what is left of his soul will burn in it forever.

They also said sources and means were not revealed, but the information shared could make it possible to infer both of those.
