Sheriff David Clarke reverses acceptance of Homeland Security role:report
Source: The Hill
Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke has reportedly withdrawn from consideration for the role of deputy secretary at the Department of Homeland Security, according to a new report.
An adviser to Clarke told The Washington Post that the sheriff had officially notified Secretary of Homeland Security John Kelly late Friday that he had rescinded his acceptance.
Clarke told conservative radio host Vicki McKenna during an interview last month that he had accepted the role of deputy secretary of Homeland Security.
Im both honored and humbled to be appointed to this position by Secretary Kelly, working for the Trump administration, he previously said.

But other than that, yeah, zero f*cks given here -

(13,524 posts)remember, as do you, I have no doubt, was that like, the next day there was all this kerfuffle about his "19 pieces of flair" - ha ha ha, so funny!
Then the day after that, D'OH!: he was found to have plagiarized his masters thesis (or whatever that was)....and then the dumbass just disappeared pretty much, which worked just fine for US, right, grammy?!
Right!

(7,431 posts)Because the presidency is one of such enormous power, getting rid of a crazy criminal like Trumpy will take a long time. I often wonder how often the general population considers that voting for a president is a very serious matter. As a nation, we seem to have forgotten all but the glitter and fizz. Putin may as well be waltzing into the White House with a tamborine. Trumpy is only useful to Putin as the person who can turn on the money spigot for Putin, already reputed to be the world's richest.

Isn't Putin just another advisor to the Drumpf royal family? Perhaps arch-duke of Russria. Maybe he has a little land-holdings somewhere and has nice pects.

(22,651 posts)Clarke has been repeatedly accused of abusing detainees at the county jail.[41] Following the deaths of four inmates at the jail in six months, the U.S. Department of Justice launched an investigation of the jail.[41] Milwaukee County chief medical examiner Brian Peterson accused Clarke of verbally harassing and threatening him in an October 2016 telephone conversation after Peterson's office made the mysterious deaths of two inmates at the jail earlier that year public.[41][42] According to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, Clarke also attracted attention for temper-related incidents: "He once berated a 911 dispatcher for not being professional, threatened to arrest the new House of Correction chief and called a sergeant a 'terrorist' and 'cancer' in a two-hour, expletive-filled rant".[42]
Death of Terrill Thomas[edit]
The Milwaukee County Jail turned the water off to inmate Terrill Thomas' cell, resulting in his death by dehydration on April 24, 2016. According to inmates, the water was turned off for six days and the staff refused to provide water to Thomas. On September 15, 2016, the Milwaukee medical examiner ruled Thomas's death a homicide.[43] Later that day Clarke's office sent out a press release which stated it would be "withholding employee internal investigations and will not be commenting on this matter until the completion of all [sic] investigative and review processes, and any resultant civil litigation."[44][45] Asked about the lawsuit in March 2017, Clarke said that he had no comment on the lawsuit but noted Thomas' criminal background.[46]
In May 2017, after hearing six days of testimony at an inquest, a Milwaukee County jury found probable cause that seven jail employees (two supervisors, five officers) had committed a crimespecifically, abuse of a resident of a penal facilityand recommended that charges be brought.[47]

.......................Clarke, a vocal supporter of Trump during the 2016 campaign, is also a controversial figure. He was accused of plagiarism, and has drawn scrutiny for conditions in his jails that left one mentally ill inmate dead.

David Clarke proclaims 'blue lives matter' at Republican National Convention
Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke offered his support for police officers around the country during a speech on the opening day of the Republican National Convention July 18. (The Washington Post)
Trump and Clarke met in Wisconsin on Tuesday, according to Peterson, and they discussed other roles in which Clarke could support Trump.
"The sheriff is reviewing options inside and outside of government," Peterson said. "Sheriff Clarke told Secretary Kelly he is very appreciative of the tremendous opportunity the secretary was offering, and expressed his support for the secretary and the agency."
