Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) said Monday that his colleagues cant count on President Trump to stand up for the GOP Senate health care bill, if it comes down to it.
Heres what I would tell any senator, if you count on the President to have your back, you need to watch it, he said in an interview with MSNBCs Garrett Haake. He went on to defend the Senates version of the health care bill, which he called better than the Houses plan.
Heres what I told the House guys, you need to understand the Senates a different animal. I dont think the House bill was mean. Im not sure it was as well-constructed as it could have been, Graham said. Our bill is better. It saves more money. I think, in many ways, it has a softer transition.
Grahams comments come as Senate Republicans push for a vote on their health care plan, which four GOP senators have said they may vote against.

(115,693 posts)Lindsey, go lie on your fainting couch and have yourself a nice mint julep. Trump won't have anybody's back, but the craven GOP will always have his because they're afraid of what the MAGA-hatted knuckledraggers will do to them in the next election.
And no, the Senate version isn't better than the House version.

(17,913 posts)I suppose Mussolini was better than Hitler, thus the Senate bill is less evil than the House bill. But if "saving money" is Scarlet's highest priority, why not just go all in and out do the House in evil by eliminate Medicaid all together, not just the expansion. Think of the conservo-nut bonafides that would bring and save tons of money for tax breaks to boot, since apparently, the well being of the population isn't one of Scarlet's priorities.

Graham, just emerged from a forty-year coma, may be surprised, but few others are unaware of Trump's entire history.
