Roger Stone, a longtime ally of President Donald Trump, will testify on July 24 in a closed hearing with the House Intelligence Committee as part of the panels Russia investigation, Politico and CNN reported Tuesday night.
Stones testimony will follow a closed session the House Intelligence Committee had with Hillary Clinton adviser John Podesta on Tuesday.
I am confident that Podesta most likely repeated his lie that I knew in advance about the hacking of his email, and am anxious to rebut this falsehood, Stone said in a statement to CNN. I am still unhappy that my testimony will not be in public, but believe it is more important to resolve the question of Russian collusion with the Trump campaign which I believe was nonexistent.
Robert Buschel, Stones attorney, told Politico that Stone asked for a public hearing but that the committee said they are done with public hearings.

(8,138 posts)He made a public statement like 2 weeks in advance of the email release!
Stone tweeted before the leak, "it will soon be Podesta's time in the barrel". Five days before the leak, Stone tweeted, Wednesday Hillary Clinton is done. #Wikileaks.

(15,294 posts)a couple weeks ago. Right at the end when they were summing up, Stone and Nick Ackerman, one of the Watergate lawyers were on together. I forget what the lies were Stone told, but Ackerman went beserk and called Stone out like I've never heard before.
I'm sure at least the Dems already know the correct and true answers to the questions they'll be asking Stone. He'd do well not to lie, but I doubt he'll be able to help himself.

That's what he does.
This is one of the nastiest people you will ever be exposed to.
With partners Charlie Black and Paul Manafort, he formed Black, Manafort, and Stone, a political consulting firm, described as "instrumental in the success of Ronald Reagan's 1984 campaign". Republican political strategist Lee Atwater later joined the firm in 1985, after serving the #2 position on Reagan-Bush '84. The firm lobbied for the Filipino dictator Ferdinand Marcos and the Congolese dictator Mobutu Sese Seko.
In 1996, Stone resigned from a post as a volunteer spokesman in Senator Bob Dole's campaign for president after The National Enquirer wrote that Stone had placed ads and pictures in racy swingers publications and a website seeking sexual partners for himself and his second wife, Nydia Bertrane Stone, whom he married in Las Vegas in 1992. ...In a 2008 interview with The New Yorker Stone admitted that the ads were authentic.
(In 2000) Stone was recruited by James Baker to assist with public relations during the Florida recount. His role in the Brooks Brothers riot, the demonstration by Republican operatives against the recount, remains controversial.
Stone was accused on an episode of Hardball with Chris Matthews on August 22, 2007, of being the voice on an expletive-laden voicemail threatening Bernard Spitzer, father of Eliot, with subpoenas. Donald Trump is quoted as saying of the incident: "They caught Roger red-handed, lying. What he did was ridiculous and stupid."
In January 2008, Stone founded Citizens United Not Timid, an anti-Hillary Clinton 527 group with an intentionally obscene acronym.
Stone specifically referred to a CNN commentator as an "Entitled Diva Bitch" and imagined her "killing herself", and called another CNN personality a "stupid negro" and a "fat negro".

he seems nice. I can well understand why he and the Orange Shitgibbon are friends. Birds of a feather and all that.

(23,191 posts)Since he was involved, he's not going to out himself or his big benefactor, Drumpf. He wants to keep that Russian money rolling in and if he blabs it won't be the money that's rolling but his head. Putin is known for killing anyone that crosses him and telling the truth about his and drumpfs plans would certainly qualify.
