A new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll finds that just 37% of Americans approve of the job President Trump is doing, while 51% disapprove.

Key finding: “The most pronounced swing the poll found was among independents. Over the past four months, their approval of the president has dissipated. In February, 40% of independents said they approved of the job Trump was doing, with 51% disapproving. Four months later in June, just 31% say they approve of the president with 59% of independents disapproving — a 17 point net-negative drop.”

What on earth did they think they were getting from him, knowing his track record for almost constant lying?

What on earth compelled them to throw caution, and reason, to the wind like this?

I've heard that again and again, even from people I know who voted for him.

"Well, I'm just going to remain hopeful..."
"Don't worry - he's going to rise to the occasion..."
"Just give him time! He'll start coming around..."
"Just let him get in there, and he'll start getting it! He'll get it! You'll see! He'll understand..."
"He's such a great businessman. He'll do just fine. He'll be fine. It'll be fine..."
"It's still early... he's still new at this..."

And despite this poll, there are still FAR too many who remain completely hoodwinked.
