3. Doesn't look good

I just looked at this website.

http://www.opensecrets.org/races/election.php?state=OH

The Dems are running someone named Dale Blanchard, but have not put any support into the race. La Tourette has been mowing down his opposition for years, so apparently the Dems aren't doing much there.

Maybe this news will encourage more national support for Blanchard, unless he is a DINO, but not sure how conservative he is.

8. Blanchard has run for that office numerous times and got waxed by LaTourette when he got the nom.

Latourette was so successful that the Ohio Dems had written off the seat until he retired. Blanchard is a weak campaigner. I have never seen him in public.

My district was actually made "more democratic" in the last redistricting/gerrymandering when Ohio lost two seats. This one is winnable with the right candidate. The Lake County Democratic Party has produced some strong candidates in the last few years. However, they are committed to other races this year. With less than four months until the election, I doubt that we will get a great candidate.

9. If that's a conservative district, all the more reason for Dems to support a conservative dem.

Because that would be the only kind of Dem who has a chance to get elected in a conservative district.

Even a conservative Dem will at least sometimes vote a Dem. bill, or not vote for a far-right Repub bill, but as we've seen, the Repubs lately won't vote for a Dem bill and will almost always support their party's bills.

10. In the gerrymander, the gops assumed Latourette would always win, so it is a swing district

There are a few candidates with enough name recognition to win this for the Dems. They are all committed to other races, though.

15. About D B - Dale Blanchard in NEO - North East Ohio
Wed Aug 1, 2012, 08:46 PM
Aug 2012

Hello World - maybe there is a good chance to have a positive influence.

I talked to Dale this year - he seems like a good prospect - like a

progressive "Data-Base" type person, and accountant type person.

And I suspect he understands the Federal tax laws from a working
person perspective. Here are some vote tallies for Latourette and
Blanchard - in the distant past.

1994 Steven C. LaTourette 99,997
2000 Dale V. Blanchard 101,842

He sounds like a Democrat, looks like a Democrat.
I think that I am a local farmer-Democrat, and he lives in this area.
So we are of like mind...

16. Local Schools and Bridges
Wed Aug 1, 2012, 09:06 PM
Aug 2012

This area of North East Ohio is mixed small industry and residential.
With some farming and very good school systems. And bridges that
do get repaired and replaced. This is at the intersection of Interstate 90
and Interstate 271 which connects to I-71 just south of Cleveland.
And three major bridges just a mile or two from my farm are
recently replaced or in the process of replacement.
Downtown Cleveland - the Inner Belt Bridge repair is a sore point.
That is also Interstate Ninety - but the money is running short.
Local Republican Leader Dale Fellows recently supported and pushed
through an increase in the Willoughby Hills Income tax in this region.
So Dale Fellows - the Republican - is not popular... Dale BLANCHARD
has a decent chance, if he stays UP-BEAT... Do not worry - be happy.!!.

A very varied demographic that would benefit from government investment and services. Why they continually vote Repuke is beyond me (and why I'm glad I moved the hell out of there).

17. About Newt Gingrich and Sheldon Adelson and Financial Support
Thu Aug 2, 2012, 10:59 AM
Aug 2012

Hello Blue State Guy, and Hello World, 2-AUG-2012 11 AM Thursday

I just spent five minutes talking to DB - the Data Base Guy -
who is running for Congress in the Fourteenth District of Ohio.

He is smart - and good on reasonable and understandable
tax laws. Way better than old Steve LaTourette and far better
than Newtie and the Newt Gingrich Benefactor - Sheldon Adelson.

Ohio is a poor state - poor Bible Belt and Rust Belt. Home of
Standard Oil back more than 100 years ago.

Blue State people can support Dale Blanchard - a 21 st Century
thinking person - for Congress.

Call Dee Triple See - DCCC - Democratic Congressional Campaign
Committee - ask if bundling works. 614-221-6563 and contribute.

Also call 202-863-1500 and ask "Why won't Terrence Smith call back?"

DCCC should provide Major Financial and Organizational Support.

Who are we? Community Organizers? Community Colleges?
I like advanced studies - Medical School and Post Graduate stuff.
Mandatory Post-Docs and Residency and Fellowships.

But right now - we need to be practical. Support Dale in Ohio.
He is running UN-OPPOSED for congress - in the USA...

That is a BFD - Big Deal - why are we so slow and cheap?
I send a few bucks to my poverty stricken friends down in Texas -
and they help fund me. Try to fund the Ohio Campaign.

Even Sheldon Adelson - send some cash. But I do not think he
is listening. And he probably supports the Chinese in Macau and the
new wars in the Middle East. That is really not good.

Anybody watching the war in Algeria or in Syria recently?
French Foreign Legion pulled out of Algeria. But look at Syria.

Ohio is more stable than the Middle East - support Ohio while
we still can. Support the North Coast Area - 14th district Congress.

And Vote in November, 2012. Less than a hundred days. Soon.
