President Trump warned special counsel Robert Mueller from investigating his familys finances beyond the scope of the probe into ties between his administration and Russia in an interview with The New York Times on Wednesday.
I think thats a violation. Look, this is about Russia, Trump told The Times.
Trump during the interview said he wasnt ruling out firing Mueller as special counsel on the Russia probe.
He did not say that he would order the Justice Department to fire Mueller or under what circumstances he would fire him, but he indicated Mueller investigating his family's finances would cross a line.
Trump also noted he previously interviewed Mueller to replace Comey as FBI director shortly before he was named special counsel.

I can't believe he threatened the Special Counsel. He acts just like a mobster.
The Special Counsel will review what the evidence leads him to. He will have to get tons of financial information in order to find what he's looking for.

(1,588 posts)next day brings the Russians into the Whitehouse and brags about relieving the pressure from the investigation. Next he meets Putin out of earshot of any American and on his return he threatens to get rid Mueller. He also insults Sessions, hoping toreplace him with someone who will essentially protect him and apparently the investments Putin has in him. Are there dots to be connected there?.

(16,828 posts)Donald Trump just admitted that he has much to hide when it comes to his personal fortune and how much of it is tied to Russia. Do not think for a minute that Robert Meuller is not going to look into Duetche Bank 's involvement in Russian money laundering and concnection to the Trump campaign.
When a rabid dog is cornered, its only reflex is to attack when threatened or be killed in the process. Trump is going down, and his family and Administration with him. The constant scandsl and blatant corruption is kore than this country can take. If Trumpmfires Meuller for this, Trump will go down and hard. Congress must act and act acording to the Constitution they swore to uphold or face the consequences of their inactions come 2018.

(4,371 posts)start looking into all financials. Sounds like the prez is still trying to hide a money connection.
He might be setting this up as a case to fire Mueller, but the backlash would break everything into the open. It would likely turn a lot of republicans against the White House. I need more popcorn.

(33,643 posts)I cannot BELIEVE that the goddamn world has not utterly EXPLODED (thanks, MSM, for NOT making a huge deal of something ... that IS a huge deal. Unlike the maybe 1 hr. 'private meeting', which is like 1/10 as explosive as this interview)
This ... MAN ... The Don ... heis an OBVIOUS threat to our Democracy, Country and Way of Life.
I mean this is so far beyond the pale, every D should be front of camera's today going WTFF IS THIS?!?. Yet people are kinda nonchalant today IMHO.
This guy ... this so-called DONALD ... Who the EVERLOVINGFUCK does he think he is, threatening the Legally Appointed (By His Own GUYS NO LESS) Federal Special Investigator, using this kind of Mafioso BULLSHIT.
BTW, please read the actual quotes and you'll really see what I mean. This blurb right here doesn't do justice at all ... go about 2/3 down (your head will assplode if you try read to the part I mean) where he talks about Sessions & Mueller. That is some SERIOUSLY CRIMINAL SHIT right there. Can you IMAGINE if a Democrat ... OBAMA?!? Said this shit? OFMG.
This IS a Constitutional Crisis at this point. That is just NOT ... okay, at all. Nothing much happening about it ... REALLY NOT OKAY.
WTFF People ...

(562 posts)I read the quotes though. If it helps Trump's alleged conflict of interest by Rosenstein and Mueller and Comey leaks, etc have already been dismissed. That whole discussion is just sick narcissist bullshit.

(562 posts)Rosenstein would have to fire Mueller. He won't. He appointed him.
Trump won't commit a Saturday Night Massacre by firing Rosenstein. Very bad idea.
But he'll try limiting scope.
Rosenstein frustrated senators by refusing to answer questions on the scope of the investigation, but his appointment letter didn't allow investigating all possible crimes - just those limited to Russian collusion or "arising out of it." Would that include money laundering unrelated to collusion with Russia?
If Mueller found crimes unrelated to the scope, he'd have to ask Rosenstein for permission.
To prevent that, and to fire Mueller, Trump could fire Sessions and the replacement take over Rosenstein's duties. A replacement quietly loyal to Trump could then make up an excuse to replace Mueller with a Trump loyalist after a long delay - he went beyond the scope of investigation or conflict of interest with Comey. It would be a risky fascist move.
But Trump may be shitting in his pants and can't handle loss of control.

(40,416 posts)I hope that you are wrong as there is no telling how Congress would respond. Of course, that would be true of any scenario of a Mueller firing.
My best.

(13,072 posts)Given he and his administration are under investigation, it's fair game. Nothing is off the table. Nothing Mueller wants to look into should be excluded, including agent orange's finances. Following the money is key here.
