Manchin on GOP lawmakers suggestion for a duel with female senators: Ill step outside with him

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) says he's up for a duel with a GOP lawmaker who suggested he wanted to challenge female GOP senators to a duel over the party's ObamaCare repeal plan.

Rep. Blake Farenthold (R-Texas) on Monday raised the idea of dueling the female senators whom he blamed for killing the GOP efforts to repeal and replace ObamaCare by not supporting the bill. Responding to his comments Tuesday morning, Manchin said, “I’d be okay to step outside with him.”

Farenthold on Monday said the fact that there are senators who “do not have the courage to do some of the things that every Republican in the Senate to do is just absolutely repugnant to me.”

The Texas lawmaker targeted female Republican senators specifically and said if they were men from Texas, he would ask them to “step outside and settle this Aaron-Burr style.” Burr is famous for shooting and killing Alexander Hamilton in a duel in 1804.

1. Manchin has been very effective this morning and recently.

I heard him say this today, his complete sentence was I'd be okay to step outside with him" and then something about the people of West Virgina who need health care.... was highly effective without yelling - said very calmly but seriously.

that their talk of "duels" and "pistols at dawn" makes it perfectly legitimate for opponents to openly express their desire to punch them in the face.

R's are real brave at forty paces, but I bet a lot of Dems would love to go hand to hand for a round.

Everyone's got huge fucking balls and talk loud about duels when they think they're the only one with the gun (see: Wilson, Joe)... But call out their challenge and see how fast their artificially inflated hacky sack shrivels and they run for cover...

I still say one of the biggest mistakes Dems made in 2004 was not responding to Zell Miller's duel just to make him bitch out in a national spotlight...
