GOP Rep.: Maybe McConnell Should Step Down From Leadership Role

Source: Talking Points Memo

By NICOLE LAFOND Published JULY 28, 2017 9:39 AM

After Republican senators failed to pass a skinny Obamacare repeal bill early Friday morning, one GOP congressman is calling on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to step down.

During an interview with CNN on Friday, Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL) said the news that three Republicans — Sens. John McCain (R-AZ), Lisa Murkowski (R- AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME) — tanked a bill that only needed a simple majority to pass was an “abject failure of the United States Senate” and questioned whether top leadership needed a shakeup.

“It was a failure from the newest member Luther Strange (R-AL) at the bottom to the very top with Mitch McConnell as majority leader,” he said, urging senators to stay in D.C. until “the job gets done.”

“Now is not the time to leave the American people in a lurch. Now is not the time to leave American health care at risk,” he said. “I hope they won’t quit. If they’re going to quit, by golly, maybe they ought to start at the top with Mitch McConnell leaving his position and letting somebody new, somebody bold, somebody conservative take the reins so they can come up with a plan that can get through the United States Senate.”

Actually the best part of all this is the R's who stood up and moved across the aisle.
They did it in the face of very direct threats to their state's funding.

Might soon be time for some Jackson Browne lyrics:

"When the walls have begun to crumble
When the laws have begun to burn
When the wind is singing freedom
When the stone begins to turn"

what the fuck does it matter who they might choose??? We deserve a Senate leader on par with our pResident! I'd be curious to see just how long a Christian nut-job leader would last by trying to run this country to the letter of the Bible. Hell - we might could instigate the Rapture and get some relief. We sincere and sane sorts would be whisked away - while the CONservatives, the dictators and the bible thumpers could kill themselves with back-stabbing, mass killing (wars) and liberating every molecule of carbon that can be dug up!

Halleluja!

What does leadership have to
do with a persons preference
on an issue? They are adults,
and should have an opinion
all by themselves, without a

The Republicans could roll any of their Senators in to the "leadership" position and try and kill off Social Security but who would be sucessful?? NONE of them. It doesn't come down to leadership all the time,it comes down to throwing out bills and laws that HELP everyday people instead of the RICH.

“It was a failure from the newest member Luther Strange (R-AL) at the bottom, to the very top with Mitch McConnell as majority leader." - Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), conveniently not mentioning that he is currently running for Luther Strange's Senate seat*.

This is just Mo "People who ‘lead good lives’ should pay less than those with pre-existing conditions" Brooks delivering meth-encrusted red meat to the Talabamian rubes back home, and using CNN as the vehicle. They should have never let him on.

Strange is a real bastard, but is Brooks any better? Don't think so.

* Odds for the seat are leaning toward Roy "Ten Commandments" Moore.

Plus, turtles are cute! They're especially precious when you feed them a little piece of peach and watch them chew it with their little turtle mouths. It's just darling!
