(11,686 posts)Sam was a good man then the vile wife and kids took over and his legacy went to shit forever. I hope Jeff's family or whoever does not do the same. Funny we were having a Costco discussion a few hours ago. I hope I do not have to quit going.
Let's hope not

Shouldn't change anything. I remember fearing the same when Jim Sinegal stepped down in 2012. Sinegal was running things until then (& spoke at the Democratic National Convention that year). That left Chief Operating Officer Craig Jelinek to take over. Nothing has changed since then.

(26,343 posts)the shithole it became and how lousy it treats the majority of its employees.
Now granted they do have an issue with a lack of quality employees but that again is management's fault for offering sub par wages that are not attractive as well as not providing decent training and over working them leading to lower productivity and morale.

(19,204 posts)It CAN be done, and the Sinegal/Brotman team showed Wall Street and Americans that treating the investors, employees, and the
customers in an honest, caring fashion benefited EVERYONE!
I LOVE walking the aisles in Costco, just to see what their buyers have come up with now. I never buy that much for myself, but my daughter's family, with two kids aged 4 and 2 1/2 love going with me, and of course "grandpa" can't resist spoiling the kids. They're NOT spoiled, though, and never throw tantrums or cry when we say "no" to something. They're grateful for what they have, and know how lucky they are. There's just SO MUCH stuff there can can save a family with kids a TON of money!
Anyway, here's to you, guys! You'll never be forgotten for the way you ran your business. I wish the rest of corporate America would take a cue from your ideas.
