Kentucky mayor announces removal of Confederate statues in wake of Charlottesville

Source: The Hill

The mayor of Lexington, Kentucky is accelerating his plans to remove Confederate statues from key locations in the city due to violence spurred by white nationalists in Charlottesville, Va. on Saturday.

"I am taking action to relocate the Confederate statues. We have thoroughly examined this issue, and heard from many of our citizens," Mayor Jim Gray (D) said on Twitter.

"The tragic events in Charlottesville today have accelerated the announcement I intended to make next week," he continued.

Gray said he is looking to remove Confederate statues at the city's Historic Courthouse, which will be the city's new visitors center.

Don't wait to relocate them. Just throw them in a landfill. Let some fucking yahoo put them in his yard.

Or break 'em up if they're stone. Don't let them become someone else's monuments.

Tear them down!

those abominations should have been removed years ago. Put them in a museum so all the racists can see them in one place.

Then post pictures of the participants in the nazi march above the statues so everyone can see who to ostracize from our society.

These fuckers should never have a job ever again if they've ever had one to start with. Linkedin? Let's start a website where we can see who NOT to hire. I'm in a position of hiring in an HR department and believe me when I say, I leave no stone unturned when researching someone who applies for a job. You'd be surprised how much I can find out on Facebook and the Internet about a candidate.

We saw a sickening, violent spectacle yesterday, involving the sort of sub-humans who still worship such symbols. Enough, already.

a metal recycler to be melted down so the metal can be reused. That is the best way to get rid of them permanently.

If they're marble, just break them up and turn them into marble chips for use in gardens.

Don't move them. Destroy them.

Leave enough - at least two on every campus - living fossils - so we may never forget what these people stood for.

See? I can throw their words right back at them!
