GOP members of Congress criticize Trump's comments: 'We should never hesitate to call out hate'

Source: CNN

Washington (CNN) Members of Congress in President Donald Trump's own party were among those lawmakers quick to criticize comments the President made in a news conference that laid blamed on both sides of protesters at a rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, that turned violent over the weekend.

Speaking to reporters at Trump Tower in New York City, Trump denounced the "alt-left" protesters who he said "came charging" at a group of white supremacist rally goers. The neo-Nazi group was initially in town to protest the removal of a statue of Robert E. Lee. Tweeting in response to Trump's off-the-cuff remarks, Republican Speaker of the House Paul Ryan of Wisconsin called white supremacy "repulsive."

"We must be clear. White supremacy is repulsive. This bigotry is counter to all this country stands for. There can be no moral ambiguity," he tweeted.

Ryan was one of a number of Republican leaders who took to the social media platform Tuesday evening to disagree with Trump's argument that those who protested against the neo-Nazi rally-goers shared some of the responsibility for spreading violence.

They bet the farm on having someone with "working digits" (per the exhortation from Grover Norquist) to sign their draconian legislation and they continue to be willing to prop him up, no matter how low he goes, in order to get their stuff through.

for personal power and wealth. They can fight when they want to (like against Hillary or Obama) but they don't want to fight their fake prez as long as they get richer.

Like their dear leader, they "talk tough" but they flee (or deflect) when they can't back it up.

as they continue to furiously try to wipe out Obama's legacy, their white supremacist hegemonic imagery is being systematically removed. Just posted on LBN where overnight, Baltimore took down all their Confederate statues - https://www.democraticunderground.com/10141845154

Who will push them for action? Are there enough sane Republicans to push those in safe districts to actually do something? My opinion is that they have already placated much of their electorate with these words without actions.
