DNC chief: Trump's Arizona trip 'throwing salt on the wounds he tore open' in Charlottesville

The chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Tuesday went after President Trump for "throwing salt on the wounds" with his trip to Arizona after the violent clashes in Charlottesville, Va.

In an op-ed published in Univision, Tom Perez called for Republicans to stand up against Trump and work together to solve issues.

Perez wrote at the beginning of the piece that it is the job of a president to bring the country together in a time of crisis.

"But last week, when we needed this president to unite the American people against hatred and bigotry, Donald Trump did the opposite," Perez wrote.
