President Donald Trumps patience with Rex Tillerson, his secretary of state, is wearing thin according to a new report from Axios.
Jonathan Swan reports that the president has been growing increasingly frustrated with his Secretary of State, with Axioss Mike Allen adding that U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley is a possible replacement.
One source told Swan that after Trump returned from a recent meeting on Afghanistan, the president said Rex just doesnt get it, hes totally establishment in his thinking.
Weve been hearing for weeks, from sources whove spoken to the president, that Trump is getting more and more fed up with Tillerson, who has still yet to staff his agency, Swan reports.

Maybe trump should look at himself to see who "just doesn't get it"?

(58,785 posts)is widely recognized by experts, and we still don't know his agenda, only that it is very different from the policies that maintained 70 years of peace after two world wars. Note that Exxon's position under T on the indirect effects of its operations in a region, even regime change, genocide, arrests and tortures, whatever, is that they are not its concern.
Sad that a mere lack of racist craziness can make an appointee seem desirable, but that doesn't mean he is a desirable appointee. Mattis and McMaster, very respected for their competence, reportedly want to work with Tillerson, but he is not "one of them."

(16,423 posts)IIRC, Tillerson was asked for a comment about Trump's Charlottesville "both-sides-do-it"-speech and Tillerson said something to the effect of:
"The State Department speaks for the US. The President speaks for himself."

(9,426 posts)leaving the staffing of the agency for the NEXT person who takes his job? Remember McConnell and his "The NEXT president will fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court"? Well, Tillerson might have already had bellyful of tRump and his miscreants, so is looking for a way out. They said that Jarrod constantly looks over Tillerson's shoulder. So, after Jarrod brokers a peace deal in the ME, makes the water in Houston recede, then he will take over Tillerson's job.

(36,437 posts)So, Trump has to find a way to make it look like it was his idea.
The State Department is, of course, completely falling apart, since Tillerson has no idea what he's doing and the Trump admin hates State more than just about anything. Haley will likely be slightly more competent at State - having actual experience in government administration and not being a tired old semi-retiree, a la Rex. Of course, competence in Trumpland means being able to dismantle the agency and completely politicize it in a fascist manner, so, grain of salt.

(14,564 posts)that explained what was going on with the State Department.
It was Bannon led effort to completely remake it, they literally tore up the inside of the building and redid the layout. As you noted, they purposefully gutted it (likely as part of their deal with Russia), and I think they tied Tillerson's hands some in terms of staffing, but he was full on board with everything they did to wall out the experienced hands in the department.
Tillerson is big time Russia dirty. He isn't personally incompetent, and outside of the Russia shit seems to have the level headedness for the job. BUT, as you noted, just isn't a government guy.
Haley is semi competent/sane by Republican standards. and has the nice balance of looks and deference to him that seems to keep her in good graces with the groper in chief.
She is just going through the motions for her own political ambitions ... A much less bombastic, more level headed and less trailer trashy Palin.
re Haley. The pukes are trying to prop her up to make her seem like presidential material. She's just another craven opportunist, kissing dump ass in order to further her political ambitions. May it bite her in the ass big-time.
