Inspector general to investigate EPA chief's travels to Oklahoma
Source: Reuters
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The frequent travels of the head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Scott Pruitt, to Oklahoma will be investigated following congressional requests, the agencys Office of Inspector General said on Monday.
Pruitts many travels to his home state have fueled speculation that he intends to run for the U.S. Senate from Oklahoma. A spokeswoman for Pruitt has declined comment on the speculation.
The Office of Inspector General said it would look into the frequency, cost and extent of Pruitts travels to Oklahoma through July 31, and whether travel policies and procedures were followed.
It said the investigation will also aim to determine whether EPA policies and procedures are sufficiently designed to prevent fraud, waste and abuse with the Administrators travel that included trips to Oklahoma.

(3,495 posts)that Pruitt is a short-term employee. He's almost guaranteed Inhofe's seat. I doubt his travels on government dime will hurt him. Chris Christie's taking a limo on government dime from the US Justice Dept to Union Station in DC (two blocks, 5 minute walk) while he was a federal prosecutor never seemed to bother too many people.
