Schiff proposes amendment to block Secret Service spending at Trump businesses

Source: The Hill

BY MALLORY SHELBOURNE - 08/30/17 11:13 AM EDT

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) has put forth an amendment seeking to stop the Secret Service from spending its funding at business entities owned by President Trump or his immediate family.

The amendment, which will go to the Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, would make it so that none of the agency’s funding could “be used to purchase, rent, or otherwise acquire goods or services, including hotel rooms, office space, or golf carts.”

“The immense honor and responsibility of serving as President of the United States should never be exploited for profit or personal gain,” Schiff said. “That the Trump Organization is profiting off the Secret Service is an abuse of taxpayer money and an improper method of enrichment.”
The amendment was put forward as part of the upcoming spending package the House is expected to evaluate after the congressional recess.

In an interview with USA Today earlier this month, the agency’s director said 1,000 agents had already reached their federal salary caps and overtime payments for the year.

Doubt that would ever sail past, but it would be lovely to see the Rump regime have to pay their own way for security.

He THINKS he is KING. He will bring up President Obama's golf outings again. The entire tRump family thinks they are something special, and they are -especially repugnant, privileged and useless. All rolled together, they would not make ONE intelligent person.

Intelligent, thoughtful, pro-active, caring, committed and not a push-over - those are some good qualities for president.

Worst president ever. His subversion and profiteering are far worse than W's frat-boy manipulation by his advisers. He was clueless, Trump is evil.

I'm old enough to remember Nixon, so I'm still on the fence. But I will say this - Nixon and Trump are without a doubt the 2 worst presidents ever.

I'm glad that the Democrats are making noise but they have no way to make laws or policy now.

... he doesn't get to walk away from this. Not now.

Trump is going to pay for all the shit he's done to us, he's going to jail. If not jail, he's forfeiting his assets and his family's future assets. This guy doesn't get to play god and then walk away.
