Woman who accused Franken says she accepts his apology

Source: The Hill

BY REBECCA SAVRANSKY - 11/16/17 01:45 PM EST

The woman who accused Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) of sexual misconduct said Thursday she accepts his apology.

"The apology, sure I accept it, yes. People make mistakes and of course he knew he made a mistake," she said. "So yes I do accept that apology." She said it's up to Congress whether they want to have an ethics investigation into Franken's behavior.

"There's no reason why I shouldn't accept his apology," she said.

She said she wasn't "looking for anything" when she shared her story.

The Repubs will be banging on this forever. This isn't close to being over. Those assholes will draw some equivalence between non-contact, comedic titty-grabbing vs. hitting on a 14 year old.

More progressives are going to get caught up in this. We need to differentiate ourselves from the RW assholes by how we respond.

however, funny it should hit the fan just as the Republicans pass their disgusting shit burger of a tax plan. Now all of the media attention and all of the activist ire that should have been focused on the Tax Bill has been diverted to Al Franken.

I think we as a people and the media especially are begin played.

Franken has been very vocal, and the Republicans are inducing payback.

Yes, there should be an investigation. Yes, if Franken sexually harassed this woman, he should be held accountable. Yes, sexual harassment of any kind is wrong.

But come on! We can all see through this. If there weren't accusations being made public against Roy Moore, do we really think these accusations would have been made public about Al Franken?

John Ziegler, who says he cannot stand Franken, says he thinks he is being railroaded.

Even the nature of the report itself fails to live up to normal journalistic standards. She did not tell this story to a major news outlet which then verified the details on its own. This was just her own personal account of what she says happened, with no independent reporting or examination of Franken’s side of the story, published on the website of her employer, a very lowly-rated “conservative” talk radio station.

This story, as it currently stands, is not fair journalism and my fellow conservatives would be screaming bloody murder if the target was a Republican they liked, rather than a Democrat they hate.

https://www.mediaite.com/online/i-loathe-al-franken-but-it-sure-seems-like-he-is-getting-totally-railroaded/

Thus far, doesn't pass the smell test.

which has also brought out the Kevin Spacey story (developments today: 20 young men involved with the Old Vic theatre in London which Spacey ran for a decade say he behaved inappropriately with them), the Moore story, the Michael Fallon story (British defence secretary, resigned last week for inappropriate behaviour), the Damien Green story (Theresa May's effective number 2, on whose parliamentary computer porn was apparently found about a decade ago), the Louis CK story, the Bush Senior story ...

denying all charges, categorically, over and over and over, even though they keep on coming in for Moore day after day after day. He was/is a serial pedophile which is to say, a criminal, and won't take responsibility.

Being really sorry, or being defiant. There is no moral equivalency.

She accepted his apology. Case closed. I would like to hear the photographer's side though. The photo looks staged to me. I wonder if she was in on the joke. There's not excuse for the aggressive kiss though.

Roy Moore called all his accusers liars and doesn't admit to dating any teenagers, but then said if he did it was with her mother's permission. Dude, if she's so young that parental permission was required, SHE'S TOO FUCKING YOUNG FOR YOU!

And how, just how, would all these women speak up and just lie about what happened to them with this creep? What, are they all being paid off by some nefarious right wing billionaire?

Not going to happen, because the Senate needs a 2/3 majority to convict and with the senate so close with votes, there will not be 2/3 majority.
