Hunter, Trump and Issa refuse disaster aid support for California wildfire victims

Source: East County Magazine

Feds provide not one penny

November 23, 2017 (San Diego's East County) -- Just in time for Thanksgiving, President Donald Trump’s White House sent Congress a skimpy disaster relief funding request that includes not one penny for survivors of the worst wildfires in California history, those that ravaged the wine region and other areas recently. The measure provided only bare-bones funding for states that suffered hurricane damage.

A fact that may disturb all Californians fearful of future wildfires is that a letter sent to Trump asking for $7.4 billion in federal disaster aid for these fire victims was signed by California’s Governor, Democrat Congressional members and Senators. But of our state’s 14 Republicans, 13 refused to sign. Those who turned their backs on helping fire survivors include San Diego Congressmen Duncan Hunter and Darrell Issa.

Story includes contact info for Hunter, Issa and Trump. This has NOT yet been voted on by Congress as far as I know; please ask Hunter and Issa to demand amendments to fund help for fire victims in their own state.

They are both representatives in San Diego, where many of their "red" constituents lost homes or loved ones in the devastating 2003 and 2007 wildfires here, which up until now were the worst wildfires in California's history. Hunter's father, the former Congressman, lost his own home in the fires.

It could happen again at any time. We were in red flag alert mode two weeks ago for severe fire danger. It's very dry here and today broke all temperature records for Thanksgiving Day. Tell them disaster relief should not be based on partisan politics!

If you know anyone who voted for them, please share this and ask them to contact these representatives, too. Otherwise if they lose their house in a wildfire, earthquake or other CA natural disaster, they'll be one their own.

Please kick and recommend to keep this visible through the holiday weekend, and help the many who are suffering now in northern CA.

for anything but police and military protection. This is the specific goal of the single most powerful man in America right now, and I do not mean Trump, given his pathological incompetence which this man is using to further his and his alliance's goals.

NO surprise. Btw, have we all been checking on how our fellow citizens in Puerto Rico are doing lately? We can't stop the Banana Republicans from refusing desperately needed assistance, not yet, but we can at least not forget them ourselves.

Our AG has already sued Trump's administration more than I can count.

I would think most judges would be sympathetic to the injustice here.

Team Trump only has one way to act: attack.

They will find out (hopefully) that the opposition has more tools to work with and that bullying does not work in the long run.

at my sister's house but everyone there is a Dem. so none voted for those asses. I will pass this info onto them tomorrow. It was 90 out yesterday and 85 today...HOT!!! I told the guests to call the Senate about the Tax Scam during next week's "Week Of Action" and how to call the red states by using addresses from Zillow. It is so nice having a dinner with a bunch of Atheists and Dems. We were able to have real conversations about important issues without fearing that a guest would be offended.

But of course, anyone else is just looking for a handout and should just tighten their belts and not burden the taxpayers with their personal responsibilities.

Hypocrites all.

Could this be grounds for impeachment?

How do the republicans that live in California feel about this?

Are they demanding action from their republican reps?
